The Barn - Quiet Location

The property was very homely, comfortable and excellent facilities. The hosts were very welcoming. We loved the fact it is in a quiet location, with a garden and woodland you can walk around. It is one of our favourite places we have stayed in this area.

The little barn is very clean and beautifully decorated with good kitchen facilities and a comfortable bed. The owners garden and grounds are wonderful and Claire and Ray are kind and friendly.

The lack of privacy was the most disappointing thing for us. The Barn is only 1.5 meters from the back of the owner’s house; their back door and windows, meaning you are right in their space and in their view if wanting to sit privately outside at the lovely table and chairs by the pergola. It is very charming and Claire and Ray are lovely discrete hosts - friendly and well-meaning but if only the photos had shown the very close proximity of the Barn in relation to their house. If we had seen or known this, we would not have chosen to stay there. It prevented us from being able to relax completely. The photos gave us the impression of an outdoor seating area that is secluded and private for guests alongside being in a quiet location. Yes, it’s lovely and quiet, rural and beautiful but not to be able to relax totally due to lack of a private outdoor area somewhat spoiled the experience for us. This may not matter for others but we wish we had known. Also, the sofa in the pictures was gone, replaced by two rather uncomfortable hard wood-framed chairs. We had hoped to snuggle up on the sofa seen in the picture and watch a movie. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi did not work for the entirety of our two night stay so we could not use Netflix or iPlayer but luckily the Olympics on the TV channels kept us entertained . Claire was very apologetic about the lack of Wi-Fi and phoned her provider the next day because it has been a recurring problem. It could not be solved whilst we were there however as a new connector (or something similar) needs to be installed. This again was disappointing because it prevented us from being able to do the research we had planned to have fun doing during our getaway. Claire kindly said we could use their dining room to do our research using their Wi-Fi but as kind as the offer was, we didn’t take it up as wouldn’t have felt comfortable doing this. The local area is lovely and worth a visit.

This is such a peaceful location with beautiful gardens and even an area of woodland. Fantasticly comfortable bed and very clean. Exceptional value for money

I'd have to be very picky to find a negative

Quiet location set in a beautiful garden. High quality apartment with modern fittings and comfortable bed. Hosts were discrete but helpful. A bonus was being able to charge our electric car.

Nothing

Everything. Comfortable bed, great shower, make sure the dial is at 10 to 5 for a good temperature. Enough drawers and rack facilities for clothes and shoes etc. no need to bring towels, iron or hairdryer. The kitchen has everything you need including ice cubes for your gin & tonic and a torch if you get back late. There is a custom made map on the wall. Thought this was a great idea to plan your trips. Central location to visit town’s country and coast. Nicely decorated with some lovely painted artwork. Stunning garden with beautiful ponds with woods and another pond at the end of the garden.

Not one thing to complain about.

We can’t fault the property or the host Claire. The Barn has everything you need, and is set in such an idyllic location. Claire was so lovely and welcomed us in and made sure we had everything to feel comfortable, as well as letting us enjoy her beautiful garden.

Nothing! We loved our stay at The Barn and wish we could have stayed longer.
