Blue Waves Surf House - Beach Hotel

The location is probably the best I have ever seen. I was in a king room facing Devil's rock and the view was stunning: going to bed and waking up with the sound of the sea it's worth the trip. I have enjoyed a lot both morning and sunset yoga classes with Ele and Alas, beautiful souls - unfortunately I don't think the managers keep the same instructors. The staff at the bar and even more Ashan at the reception really made the difference in making my stay great: they are the nicest. Food is also really nice. I agree with other comments flagging that a bit more variety for breakfast would be a nice touch, but to be honest I was extremely satisfied with it.

While the room was great, there were some issues in the building (water leaking/humidity) and considering the premium positioning amd price point of the hotel this really needs fixing. While I was there the location was used for some models shooting which I found a bit disruptive. I didn't have the best experience with Surf classes personally: I am very beginner and I found it not as organised as in other surf camps I have been and more expensive. I would probably recommend the location to people who are already experienced. The hotel manager never really sent me the videos in the end and in the video analysis he was giving very different inputs from what the instructors where sharing during the classes so I found it quite confusing. As mentioned, food is great, but dinner is very expensive for what it offers and the owners don't connect much with the guests so I am not sure why they want it to be a "community" dinner.

The property is undoubtedly very good and well equipped, but pricy.

Compared to other properties, it is in my opinion overpriced (e.g. dinner for 18$, you get usually a fabulous local dinner for less than 5$, surf lessons in a group for 60$, you'll get a good private surf coach for 20-25$).

The hotel is really beautiful with a great style. Our room had the most amazing view, it was large, clean and we had a nice private balcony. Facilities at the hotel are really nice and the breakfast is wonderful. Best thing about the hotel is the amazing people working there. Special thanks to Podi, Thesu, Bathi, Thamal, Bashi, Sawi and Owinda for making our stay a wonderful experience.

Stunning location on the seafront - beautiful views. Nice breakfasts & very comfortable rooms.

It was not walking distance to Ahangama main town so needed to get a tuk tuk in. Mayne 5mins down the road.

It is located in an amazing location, the most beautiful views I have ever seen! We stayed in a room facing the ocean and it felt like a dream every day - you sleep with the sound of the waves literally. But you have beautiful views from the entire property, you can see and feel that everything was really nicely thought. If you are looking to surf, there is a wave right in front of the hotel, suitable for beginners. The staff is really friendly! Asham (?) was really kind and always eager to help us - there was even one day I cut myself in the reef and he was the one indicating us which medical center to go and making sure I had the best care. We booked the Yala National Park Safari via the hotel and it was a really good experience as well. The breakfast is an absolute 10 out of 10, I was always excited about it! Overnight oats with homemade granola and shredded coconut, fruit, honey, eggs and toast with smashed avocado and tomatoes. Ahangama is in my opinion also the best area to be in the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Nothing to note really, it was an amazing stay. The only thing could be that if you are planning to have dinner at the hotel, it is expected that you join the family/community dinner which was not our preference. The room had everything you needed and it was overall quite clean but there were a few days when we noticed a few stains in the bedsheets, nothing major at all
