Haslett House - A Gilded Age Estate

The interior of the house was simply stunning. The victorian woodwork of mixed hardwoods had been untouched for years and included paneling, an inglenook, pocket doors, coffered ceilings, stainglass windows, etc. etc., that one does not see very often these days. Paul, the owner, was also the best host. Filled us in on the history of the house, how he acquired it, the town, and restaurants. He also provide an excellent breakfast before we left in the morning.

The house is on a busy street and looks a little run down from the outside. Paul, the owner, is working on painting the exterior so this may change before we visit again.

Absolutely stunning inside. The period antiques and the amazing woodwork in this restored home we absolutely incredible. On top of that the Bed and n the king suite may have been one of the most comfortable I have experienced

The Haslett House in Fort Plain is a beautiful example of preserved history. I was struck by its classic architecture, original details, and the sense of character that comes through in every room. The setting felt peaceful and rooted in the past, and it was clear the property has been thoughtfully maintained. It brought back memories of the charm and grace found in old homes that tell a story.

What I didn’t like was that my wife wasn’t there to enjoy it with me. Walking through a place with that much character and history felt incomplete without sharing it with her. It’s the kind of home that invites reflection, conversation, and company.

An exceptionally preserved Victorian that is filled with wonderfully curated antiques and Objet d’art.

The property is amazing- a step back in time. Craftsmanship at its best! Very comfortable and very peaceful- we will definitely be coming back-
