Wonder View - relax and nature

We loved the apartment, host was superb, efficient with very clear instructions and went above and beyond. Beautiful views and loved every minute. Only thing I would recommend is that it would be an advantage to have own transport three since the distance into town is a bit of a walk, but also a nice walk...

Get stuff (food, beverages) to apartment as you go, nothing close by except restaurant in evening also a bit of a walk... so just go prepared.

When eventually getting to the property finding the lockbox was easy enough, but getting to the actual property was not what Desy said it was, it was not an easy 20min from train station as she said , it was 45min from train station and a lot up hill..

We booked and paid for a two bedroom apartment through booking.com and when we get into the apartment, there was only the main bedroom made up. After some back and forth conversations we did get the 2nd bedroom which we had to make up ourself. The apartment has amazing views. Unfortunately the host we dealt with was very unhelpful with a bad attitude.

Beautiful view of the lake. Hosts are very helpful and easy to communicate with. Location is close to Varenna by car. Rental comes with private parking space.

Ideally suited if travelling by car as a little distance from town.

Works underway meant the 2nd bedroom was locked as outdoor terrace furniture was stored inside. We knew this, but what was never clearly stated was that we could not take out that furniture at night time when there were no works underway (in actual fact no works were being undertaken in the days we were there). This meant our kids slept in the living room sofa bed, which meant any visit to the kitchen woke up the kids in the morning. Finding keys and property very difficult at night because complex was unlit. If this was because of the Works then the property should have been taken off market. The owner knows the state of the property, not the renter. The owner covered their backside by saying that we were warned of Works. Sure, but we were not warned of the consequences of the above, and it was therefore the owners responsibility to remove the property from the market. Other issues were that the shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor creating a nice swimming pool and the washing machine was “temporarily” not in use. From the renters perspective it was irrelevant how long it was not in service for. The smell of the bedding and towels was disgusting and musty. The property does not get aired regularly. The place was infested with bugs. The heating was not on in the master bedroom, therefore we froze at night. The decor was 1960s; I mean old and tatty. Lastly I was told that I did not read my messages and was intent on complaining, as if I was a spoilt school kid. How disrespectful and mean-spirited.

Would like better pillows. If you haven’t been to Varenna, plan on buying groceries well before you arrive.
