The Old Byre with Hot Tub

First impressions were - lovely, comfy, cozy & clean cottage, equipped with all you need for a perfect Christmas break.

Unfortunately the oven did not work. Phoned the hosts and was told they would "text the maintenance man, but doubtful he'd respond as its Christmas day" Yes, it is Christmas day, however, you are a business, who rented us a property to stay for Christmas and we can not cook a meal! A young girl from the estate arrived and repeatedly suggested we use the grill - impossible to grill a roast dinner! The oven was also very dirty, perhaps if an attempt had been made to clean it for our arrival, they may have noticed it wasn't working! We asked to use an oven in another property on the estate but they were all fully booked. No suggestions or offers of assistance were made. We asked about late checkout for boxing day, she said to email and they would email back a link so we could pay for that. We duly emailed and got absolutely no response. Ridiculous when she knew to expect an email. We left this morning at 10am check out with still no reply. Terrible service really, especially when it is a working farm, the owners are on site! To send a young person who had no idea what to suggest or even to appreciate how much of an inconvenience this was, is really very disappointing & definitely put a dampener on our Christmas day.

A beautiful lodge in a lovely location. Beds are so comfy. Very clean, great kitchen and hot tub was perfect. Host was very responsive even very late at night after we misplaced the key after a very late night and drunken wedding (sorry!)Thanks for having us.

Responsive and friendly hosts. Comfy beds, spacious lovely bedrooms.

No welcome gift - not even a packet of shortbread!! Cooking equipment is not a good standard. Spa jets were not fully working. Not a lot to do at the location without driving somewhere. Couldn’t walk far without meeting a locked gate - no walkways other than the road.

Lovely, clean property. Beds were comfortable, hot tub was excellent! Showers are nice and powerful. Lots of board games to keep us entertained if required. The light in the downstairs shower room wasn’t working when we got there but was quickly fixed after emailing.

The property offers a farm tour which we really interested in, my 1 year old is fascinated by tractors and animals so it would have been ideal. Sadly, despite filling in the form 3 times and emailing once we never heard back about that. The bath panel has a ragged hole in the corner which caused the wee one to hurt himself. The induction hob leds aren’t great so it was hard to see whether it was on or if the numbers were increasing.

Very comfy and relaxed vibe.

Property was very well kept and finished to a high standard.
