Disappointing Stay – Cleanliness is a serious issue
I didn’t enjoy my stay at Casa de Momo and wouldn’t recommend it. The overall atmosphere was uncomfortable, and several issues made my experience quite frustrating.
1. Cleanliness is a serious issue
When I arrived, I found dirty sheets on the bed — damp, stained, and with hair clearly left by a previous guest. See the pictures…
Even the unused bed in my room had hair and stains, which makes me believe the sheets weren’t washed at all, just quickly made up by the cleaning lady with some disinfectant spray.
Towels had as well some hairs and was unclean (see the picture).
The kitchen was also left dirty for several days. I stayed for a few nights, left for a trip to Machu Picchu, and when I came back, the kitchen was still in the same unhygienic state.
2. Poor management and lack of essentials
I had to ask for basics like towels and toilet paper upon arrival. When I returned from the mountains, the reception was already closed at 9:30 pm, and even though they sent me instructions to enter, the key they mentioned was missing.
Whenever something went wrong, it was always blamed on someone else — the cleaning lady, other guests — but these are things that should be checked and handled by the manager.
3. Cold, noisy, and uncomfortable rooms
Rooms are badly insulated and very cold due to large windows. They were also doing renovations on the reception/coffee area during my stay, with loud drilling until 7 pm. With no soundproofing, the noise made it impossible to relax.
4. Wird vibe and contradictory rules
The guesthouse claims it’s not a hotel, yet they offer room service for breakfast. At the same time, there are surveillance cameras on every corridor, excessive house rules, and constant WhatsApp messages instead of a warm, in-person welcome.
Despite the control, the place still feels messy, disorganized, and old.
In the end, I decided to move elsewhere.
Dirty sheets and poor hygiene:
My bed had damp, smelly sheets with stains and hair. Even the unused bed had signs of previous use, clearly not washed — just remade by staff.
• Unclean kitchen:
The kitchen stayed dirty for four days, even after I returned from a trip. No one cleaned it in the meantime.
• Lack of basic amenities:
I had to ask for towels and toilet paper. These should be ready upon check-in.
• Cold, noisy rooms with bad views:
Rooms are poorly insulated and freezing due to big windows. My window faced a wall. Renovation noise from drilling lasted until 7 pm, making it hard to rest.
• Weird vibe and too many rules:
The place pretends to be a cozy guesthouse but acts like a hotel. Surveillance cameras everywhere, rappels of the evident thing by WhatsApp like check/out, — yet still messy and disorganized.
