Absolutely nothing! If I could give negative stars, I would!

Where to begin!?! After driving 10 hours, we arrived at 3am only to discover that the house wreaked so bad of cigarette smoke, that it could be smelled from outside the house! I had to do a double take to make sure I was at the right house before I entered the code because it smelled like someone was actively smoking a cigarette inside! There was absolutely no way my family could stay there. This left us stranded at 3am the day before Thanksgiving!!! I immediately messaged the host, but at 3am I did not get a reply, which was expected. I then had to go door to door to hotels on a holiday week at now 4am with 2 kids and a dog praying we wouldn’t have to sleep in the car. When I found one that would take us, I obviously had to book it and now was out another week of rental. When the host messaged back the next day, their offer was to refund the cleaning fee!!!!! This was unacceptable as we had to book another place so that my family had a place to sleep in freezing temperatures. They offered no refund and will not give me my money back. They will not respond to booking.com (which I have written proof from booking). Booking will not refund without the host giving the okay. So now I am out over $1200 and have had to charge it back to the credit card company for which I am still waiting. This has been the most awful situation to deal with and the “host” is even worse for grossly misrepresenting this s-hole, stealing my money and leaving my children and I in an unsafe situation in the middle of the night! I never write reviews, but I wish someone else did so that I didn’t make this mistake. I hope this helps save another family from experiencing the nightmare that we did.
