The Rimu Hut - Off-grid Luxury riverside cabin

Beautiful stay, the hut was so cute and perfect for a short stay off grid. And being able to use the 4WD to reach it was a necessity we were very grateful for.

windows were left open so when we arrived there were heaps of dead bugs on the upstairs bed.

The cabin is quite remote but had everything we needed. The gurgling stream out the front, the deck to eat breakfast, the comfortable bed, the inside fire making the place warm and the decadent outside bath made our little getaway lovely.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the sight of cows roaming freely across the meadow, a scene that perfectly set the tone for our stay. Nestled in the heart of nature, this charming cottage provided a truly memorable experience. One of the highlights was enjoying the outdoor bath while listening to the gentle flow of the stream and gazing upon the star studded sky and the Milky Way an unforgettable moment of serenity. The accommodation itself was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a most pleasant stay from beginning to end. Conveniently located just a 30 minute drive from the Waitomo Caves, it offers a rare and unique experience that captures the very essence of New Zealand.

Het was echt fantastisch, wat een bijzondere plek is dit. Je wilt echt nooit meer weg, dus zorg dat je echt alle boodschappen bij je hebt en begin met genieten. In het huisje zelf is aan alles gedacht, van warme deken tot verrekijker. Echt perfect

Het was echt fantastisch maar als ik dan toch iets moet bedenken: er is zeer weinig ruimte om je bagage een plekje te geven, en als je dan met z’n vieren bent is het best vol met alle koffers v 6 weken rondreis. Maar dat is een detail, verder klopt echt alles

The location is its biggest asset- about. 20 min drive from Waitomo caves and well worth it if you'd like somewhere different and special experience to stay. I loved the outdoor bath, albeit it does take a couple of hours to really heat up, well worth the effort. We used the downstairs bed, comfy and warm, great shower pressure and a flushing loo. We were aware of water useage given its rain-collected . There was no breakfast food provided specifically but we were left a couple of treats thank you and able to use condiments, oil, etc to help with basic cooking. There is a fridge, two gas elements and plenty of utensils etc to prepare an easymeal. Bring food with you so you don't need to leave such a relaxing set up. Had LOVELY WALK ABOUT, beautiful night sky and moody sunset. Very relaxing spot.

Nothing really - its such a special place to stay that'd you'd be nit picking really! It does end up being a bit costly for one nighter, ( although still worth the experience I reckon) with cleaning and booking fee etc so would recommend staying at least two if you can so you really get to relax and enjoy slowing down. Perhaps a better selection of board games?!

A wonderfully secluded, well-appointed 'hut' with everything you could possibly need for a short stay. The sunset views from the bath were fabulous (and enjoying the outdoor bath is an absolute must!), comfy bed, good shower with nice toiletries. Walking by the river and around the farm was lovely. Tranquil spot with an outdoor bathtub. Just superb. Amazing stargazing.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable with the most amazing view. The perfect place to switch off and enjoy nature in complete privacy. Couldn't recommend this stay enough!
