We loved the location, comfortable bed and garden and river access.

Nothing. Everything was perfect

Such a beautiful tranquil location, loved the open firepit outside in the evening. The beds were very comfortable, the room so quiet to sleep in, and the wooden stairs up were much easier to manage than they looked! The host was very friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. A pack of playing cards and interesting books in the room are always a welcome addition!

There is no kitchen, just a fridge and tiny food prep area suitable for making sandwiches, which is fine so long as you're prepared! The photos of the property showed a toaster, but we couldn't find one. The stairs wouldn't be suitable for anyone unsteady and would be difficult if you needed to go up one step at a time.

Fantastic location..

Only little grumble is I think you should have a sign on the cottage 'Hellvelyn room with a view' as when we arrived we were unsure of where we were supposed to go.. Had to ask in the Youth Hostle. Other than that fantastic place 👍

Great location, very quiet and a welcome break after a busy day hiking.

Could have done with more places to eat in the day and more public transport but I heard from several people this is simply due to a lack of staff in the area. I could drive to a larger village but I would prefer to walk back and relax after dinner because the approach to the cottage is very picturesque.
