The One 'Private Island' Escape

A Wonderful Getaway at The One Island Escape! We just had an amazing vacation at The One Island Escape, and everything exceeded my expectations. We stayed in a beautiful room with a direct ocean view — waking up every morning to the sound of waves and a breathtaking seascape was truly unforgettable. One of the highlights of our trip was a sunset trekking tour to a hidden, untouched beach. The scenery was like something out of a postcard — peaceful, wild, and absolutely stunning. Most of all, we are incredibly grateful to Alex, who took care of us throughout the entire stay. His friendliness, attentiveness, and thoughtful conversations made us feel like we had gained a new friend during our trip. Thank you, The One Island Escape, for a perfect retreat. We’ll definitely be back!

The private island is such a hidden gem, only a 20-minute boat ride from Tuan Chau port. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the whole place gave off a very healing, peaceful vibe. I especially loved the beachfront room where you could literally fall asleep to the sound of waves. The food was surprisingly delicious and affordable too!

There were a few big groups who did nothing but take silly photos of themselves posing and stuck together. The facilities weren't cleaned enough as there was always a lot of rubbish everywhere in the mornings. So much rubbish on the beach!

Getting to The One Private Island Escape already feels like an adventure: boat transfers run a few times a day from Tran Chau Harbor on Cat Ba, and once you arrive, you step straight into a wild, green world. The island itself is mostly unaccessible with just one beach developed for accommodation and activities. Behind the beach rise steep, jungle-covered hills and dramatic rock formations — a stunning and raw backdrop. There’s one other beach on the island, where you can walk to and getting there requires an adventurous hike through dense vegetation and rocky paths. It’s worth the effort, but make sure you apply mosquito spray and ideally take the dogs of the property with you, they are friendly and will happily guide you, as the island is also home to snakes. We originally planned to stay 3 nights and ended up staying 6 — a common story here, though most travelers we met stayed 1–3 nights. During the day, the vibe is super relaxed. There’s a beach volleyball court, a pool table, and free kayaks you can use to explore the water around the island, which is a lot of fun. The pool’s atmosphere varied: some days quiet, other days crowded depending on the mix of dorm guests and private room travelers. In the evenings, the social side of the island comes alive. Happy Hour and dinner often lead into loud and lively parties — we had a couple of unforgettable nights with music, dancing, and plenty of drinks going around. A day trip to the nearby La Han Bay was absolutely stunning and well worth doing. The staff on the island is friendly and and you easily find someone who can help you. Bar Team and Alex have good vibes. Breakfast is included and perfectly fine, especially given the very reasonable room prices. The restaurant overall is okay — they have a broad selection of dishes. Don't expect gourmet, but it's reliable and fairly priced for both food and drinks.

If you’re a light sleeper or prefer peace and quiet, request a room at the far end of the beach. Rooms near the bar can get loud well into the night. The beach itself isn’t the cleanest, and there were quite a few large jellyfish around when we were there. Still, the setting makes up for it and it is a beautiful place.

- It s a private island - The atmosphere was super nice - There was enough things to do like kayaking, pool, billard, ping pong table, baby foot - Beer prices were reasonable - Over all it was amazing! I would do it again.

- It is either AC or hot water not both at the same time - The beach was full of jellyfish and stingrays when we were there but that depends on the season so not their fault

Best time in Vietnam. Everything was perfect. Delicious food, reasonable price. Very friendly staff, always smiling. Receptionist Mr. Dat was very helpful. I will recommend to everyone.

Paradise Island. About 20 minutes by boat from Cat Ba. Fresh air, many flowers on the island. Very friendly staff, delicious food and reasonable prices. The manager MR Dat is very enthusiastic, helping us have a great time. Especially he helped us book a bus to the new location very easily and quickly.

The water in the shower is cold and smells of rotten eggs, the whole place could use a general makeover. It’s a pity because some of the staff are very nice and helpful, they would deserve more stars. The photos are rather misleading.

Unique experience with breathtaking views! Everything on this private island is extremely beautiful: from nice and welcoming staffs who always take good care of us to stunning scenery, especially at sunset and sunrise. This place truly live ups for its name and the whole team on island are doing really well to keep its vibe - it is an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life and completely immerse ourselves in nature. We spent 3 days here but it seems not enough 🥺. We truly enjoyed our time and will definitely be back in near future. This island is absolutely worth exploring!
