The Beach Cabanas Retreat & Spa

The location was excellent. It was serene. The staff was delightful and helpful Outlook from the room was breathtaking. When you step out of the room you're stepping out into koggala Beach. Although the pool was small it was quite adequate. The bar and the dining area were quite spacious.

Although the staff was quite polite and helpful They lack hospitality.

This place is all about the location. The view from the Cabana is unrivaled & you literally step out of your room onto the beach. The sea was super rough at the time of travel but there's also a pool for swimming + spa facilities (didn't have time to use). Good Wifi in room only.

We arrived & the place was a little like a ghost town - even to the point that we had to search for someone to check us in which was rather odd. The Cabana's bar/restaurant and even reception all appear to be closed & this wasn't explained to us at check in. Possibly this is an out of season thing, so you do need to walk 200m to the neighbouring hotel. The plus side is that you get to use the hotel bar/restaurant & back at the Cabana, we pretty much had an entire beach and pool to ourselves. The minus is that if you need anything there's literally no one around to ask without walking 200m to the hotel reception. Note that the phones in the room don't work.

I like the view. And that’s probably the only thing I liked. Your cabana is on the beach so you can stare at the ocean as long as you want. If you have your car there and you are with your loved one - it can be very nice. I was alone and with no car so it was not comfortable.

Reception doesn’t exist. You have to go to the reception of the next hotel (7-8 mins by walk) if you need something. Breakfast very poor, staff doesn’t speak English. I had ants in my room during my stay and asked from staff to solve that, they didn’t. Telephone didn’t worked. WIFI very bad. Beach not for swiming because of the big waves.

Secluded romantic getaway, beautiful views, almost no people on the beach

Poorly maintained facilities, common in Sri Lanka. It was a quiet period and the staff were not attentive to the few guests that where staying in the property, very slow service.

This is a very quiet location on a long deserted beach. The rooms look out onto the sea, it's magical. There were few guests there for our stay. The staff couldn't do more for us, they were very attentive. Breakfast was really good.

.A super,restful week. A great pool, essential since the sea is usually rough and potentially dangerous on this stretch of coastline. Quality and quantity of food not up to scratch and pricey. Argued that breakfast not included although the small print said it was complementary when we booked it but the site was afterwards amended so the hotel did not honour the booking details. If whale watching, think about the weather and sea conditions. Last week the seas were very rough and 5 hours of torture ! Enjoy a peaceful boat ride on Keggala Lake. Don't miss the Hundungoda tea estate and Batik factory nearby. Plenty of great restaurants with lovely sea food. The area is a photographers dream and the locals are great.

Security was bad, I loos my valuable sleepers which kept outside (door step) during the night

Our stay was wonderful, amazing weather, amazing beaches and fab staff always willing to help. our two week stay was brilliant - we would go back tomorrow!!!
