The hosts lack of response to the key code provided not opening the key box. No assistance was provided. The host is refusing to provide a refund. Booking.com is helping to secure the full refund from the host.

The bedroom upstairs is a lovely room. Large, airy and nicely appointed. Good ensuite.

There is way too much communication from the managers before arrival. I rent a lot of properties and if all of them sent this many messages I'd be overwhelmed. On arrival the first thing you notice is all the bins outside the front door, made worse on bin collection days when all the neighbours bins are also outside the front door. On walking into the lounge / diner / kitchen it is a small room with just too much furniture. There are 2 large sofas that fill the space, encroaching on the kitchen. In my view remove one of the sofas and it will be a pleasant space. The next thing I immediately noticed was all the scruffy looking stickers around the place. Don't touch this. Don't adjust this. Don't open this. It makes the place seem like a student bedsit. The worst sticker was on the skylight window above the bed, don't touch the Velux blind.....but this is Scotland....in summer.... when it starts getting light at 4am. I can see from previous reviews this blind has been broken for some time. Maybe in that time a repair could have been made or a temporary solution found to block out the light? We stayed in Stoney Creek Cottage as part of a 2 week trip around the UK. This was the most expensive place we stayed and our least favourite.....it does not offer value for money. And finally on departure I received a WhatsApp from the managers. Please leave a review they asked and if I did they would enter me into a prize draw for nice gift.... but only if the review was 5 stars! That's really UNETHICAL. Stoney Creek Cottage is managed by an organisation called St Andrew Property Company......c'mon guys you really need to be more professional.

In general, the cottage was satisfactory, sadly however the detail detracted from the overall experience of the accommodation. 1) 2 x wine glasses we used were not clean, smeared evidently on the inside! 2) The ensuite toilet rinsing tumbler was not clean and had clear evidence of residue in the base 3) The ensuite toilet brush holder had a foul rust coloured water at the base, the holder and brush had visible rust! Frankly disgusting! This should be replaced. 4) The ensuite shower had mould around the base sealant areas. Many remedies available for this. 5) The ensuite velux window had no blind or privacy screen, a clear line of sight is apparent into the ensuite from the property's upper windows across the road! Easily remedied with a replacement blind or privacy obscure film! 6) Bedroom velux window blind broken/damaged with a 'do not touch' sticker on the window frame, what this means is anyone's guess! 7) Downstair toilet sytern refill makes a horendous notice when flushed, lasts for 1.5minutes, airlick/vibrations in the pipe system. 8) 3 x waste bins situated at the entrance/front door are externally filthy and not a good image on approaching the property. They are of course not on view in the marketing photos! I have photographic/video evidence of points raised, should they be requested. These issues whilst individually not major collectively were extremely irritating, especially when a £96 cleaning fee is requested and stripping of beds! If this is the standard of 'shortstaystandrews' I cannot recommend them to others

Absolutely lovely cottage could not fault anything apart from sea gulls poo on windows hardly a negative thing!
