Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus by IHG

The location was decent. Takes some maneuvering to leave the parking lot. The staff was pleasant enough. The bed was comfortable.

This hotel needs to spend some money on upkeep! It was decently clean but some fixtures were old. The elevator didn't work 3 of the 4 days we were there so had to carry our luggage upstairs. The second day the coffee maker died. Overnight our refrigerator died and we had to throw out a lot of food. The bedside plug cut in and out. The staff had to play musical chairs with the hair dryers. Ours wasn't the only one missing. We travel to Columbus periodically. Doubt we will stay there again.

Difficult to find access drive

Unfortunately I can't give this hotel a rating higher than one because I had a reservation here and I could not stay here. I ended up having to drive an extra hour and 45 minutes because the hotel had no hot water. The desk clerk was very friendly and tried to be as helpful as she could, but when I arrived there were no alternate reservations made for me, no offer to match the price at this hotel at another nearby hotel, nothing. After flying all day then driving for 2 hours, I was greeted with news that I didn't have a place to stay. I asked the desk clerk if she would attempt to work out a matching rate at another hotel and she informed me This hotel is privately owned. This tends to be a go-to disclaimer at smaller mainstream hotels these days. Fortunately, I was able to get a reservation at hotel in Austin Texas, but that was another 1 hour and 40 minutes driving. How this hotel could have qualified for a three-star review, have an alternate plan for the guest who has a reservation. Don't simply tell the guest, there's nothing they can do You're out of luck

On Monday evening Jan 13 2025 at Columbus TX Holiday Inn Express, the check-in desk clerk was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. This was in stark contrast to the morning check-out desk clerk, who abruptly refused to give us a printed payment receipt for our stay.

No printed payment receipt on check-out. I thought this was unusual as every hotel that we stayed at on my son’s moving trip for work prior to and after the Holiday Inn Express stay had no issues whatsoever providing us with the payment receipt and it seemed to be a natural process for each of them. Payment was made at the hotel, I gave the evening check-in desk clerk my credit card. So why was there no payment receipt on check-out? The morning check-out clerk just abruptly said, “We don’t provide receipts for third-party bookings.” End of story. I probably will not stay at a Holiday Inn Express again. My son’s company requires receipts for expenses. Your company did not meet our expectations.

Staff was very friendly, breakfast was delicious. Room was nice & spacious

There did seem to be a problem with the water in our toilet tank. It was VERY murky, but after a few flushes it cleared up.

Close to the hospital where I needed to be for an early arrival time.
