La Vieille Cheminée, Tropical Farm & Eco-Lodges

Very peaceful property. Both cabins we stayed in presented great views over the valley. Pool on the top of the hill is great (could be bigger though). Staff is friendly and helpfull.

What didn't we like? This was, without a shadow of a doubt, our favorite stay in Mauritius. The staff were incredibly nice, the property is just absolutely beautiful and the pool was very refreshing (and clean). The house (or "chalet") is super cute and spacious, and the terrace and fireplace really glues it all together. Even though it's an eco lodge, the shower was modern and wifi stable. There are plenty of animals around, which makes things extra interesting. Horses are roaming free, there was even a monkey swinging around at times, and we even had a house cat, during our stay – we named him Hank.

Leaving. Honestly, that's it. Two nights was not enough – we could have easily spent a week here.

Tout était parfait! Nous étions à l'Albizia et nous avons adoré le calme, la beauté du paysage, l'agencement du gîte, la propreté irréprochable et bien sûr le barbecue. Les oeufs frais au petit déjeuner étaient délicieux. Nous avons passé deux nuits et nous avons regretté de ne pas y rester plus longtemps. Notre petite fille a adoré se ballader dans le potager et observer les animaux.

Rien, tout était parfait pour nous.

It I as a beautiful property which was very peaceful with beautiful views. The location was perfect and so close to 7 sands and ebony forest. Breakfast was delivered every morning with fresh juice, eggs, baguettes, yogurt and granola which was perfect. The facilities were great, allowing us to cook in evening. You can tell that care and consideration of the environment is central. There is were several options for the hike routes and it was nice to see the horses freely roaming around the property.

The only downside was the road up to the property, it was quite rough and rugged. If you have a smaller car, be mindful of this, I would suggest a suv style car if you are hiring a car.

If you want to get away from crowds, and city/town noise, this is a perfect location. The whole facility is located in a very beautiful part of the island (Chamarel). You feel like having a house in the middle of nowhere and can enjoy nature, sounds, animals, walks everyday. You can also order dinners, which were very tasty. We had our fireplace, and evening were super cozy and relaxing. Mosquitos didn't bother us at all (there were some, but repellent did the job). We enjoyed walks, which are available onsite, because the territory is huge. The pool on top of the hill with the nice views was amazing. Stay at this farm was exceptional.
