"Has potential but was not ideal for sleeping"

5.0

The location is right where I wanted it to be, in Montrose near the beautiful oak lined neighborhood of Broadacres. The apartment itself is made up very nicely. Good kitchen, hardwood floors, updated bathroom. It felt nicely freshened up for an old building. Staff was friendly and responsive. We had several issues that the manager has addressed after our stay, and we were refunded for the night that we had most issues, which is very much appreciated.

If you need darkness and a cold room to sleep this may not the place for you. The bedroom is literally so bright at night that you can read a book with all the lights inside turned off. You can see every detail of a persons face perfectly. The blinds on the windows don’t work at all. I bought and put up aluminum foil over the windows on our second night to try to give us some darkness and when that didn’t work, we ultimately went to a hotel at 2:00 AM for the brightness of the room amongst other reasons. Those other reasons are as follows: The Wifi was not working for our stay either. The designated parking space is not big enough for a car to fit such that the driver can get out. I had to crawl across my passenger side to get in and out, I drive a RAV4. There is not central AC but rather individual room remote-controlled walk units. The bedroom unit was not working upon our arrival. The living room unit did work on our first night which cooled the apartment down enough for us to sleep for a few hours, but the second night, the living room unit also stopped blowing cold air. The apartment also requests that you not turn the unit down below 72. Not sure about other people but I can’t sleep in Texas without AC working HARD. The bed is comfortable but HOT. It’s one of those memory foam beds that retains heat a lot, so probably wouldn’t suggest this for a hot sleeper or couples. Plus the only pillows are decorative ones, which is fine but weird to me. My partner and I were in town for an athletic competition on Saturday (our second night) and went to bed at 10:00 PM as we were exhausted, at about midnight and again at 1:30 AM the living room light randomly turned on without either of us getting out of bed or touching anything.

"Peaceful, well-appointed oasis in the middle of vibrant culture!"

10.0

I can’t say enough nice things about this place and the staff! The unit, location, and people - all fantastic! I had mentioned to the staff a couple minor issues, and they took care of them right away. The bed and sofa were comfortable, and I felt very safe. I slept like a baby, even on Saturday nights when folks were out and about past my bedtime lol! Tons of storage and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook, bake, or microwave a meal. Parking is also very well-lit and has cameras. I appreciated being on the ground floor. Walking distance to good food and so much art, I didn’t even get to experience it all as I did have to work (and wifi was fast and reliable during work hours thankfully). I will definitely be staying here again next time I visit Houston. Oh yeah, there’s HBO Max!

It didn’t bother me, but I will say that you’ll want to be comfortable backing into a narrow parking space. But seriously you might only need to do it once, because everything is so close you won’t want to bother with a ton of driving!
