Serene Boho Retreat: White Oak Charm House 10ppl

The host was very accommodating when we requested to arrive earlier on Christmas day. The bedrooms were clean. However, it states it is for 7 people, however there was only room for 6. The dining table and living room were nice enough. The sofa could do with being replaced as it is a little worn and uncomfortable.

The kitchen wasn't clean. The oven was absolutely disgusting and really needs a deep clean. The fridge wasn't very clean and had an 'off' smell to it. The decking in the garden needs replacing as planks are loose and stick up leaving exposed nails. The back gate also doesn't lock properly. Although the bedrooms were clean and tidy, the mattress were not comfortable at all and felt very cheap.

Nothing

The most awful experience. Blood marks all over walls and doorframes, nails sticking up in the garden and broken decking the dogs fell through,, back gate didnt shut, arrived back from dinner the first night and the shower was unusable flooding the bathroom. Woke up in the morning to a RAT chewing the sofa. The dogs found the rat nest in the garden. The rudest host who first sent a cleaner who couldn't solve the issues obviously, then had to wait in all day for a contractor, who covered the rat entry point and put down rat poison, also poisonous to my dogs. The host insulted me, questioned my honesty and was extremely rude. He agreed to give me a refund for the 2 nights I didn't stay then has been stringing me along for the last 3 weeks and now ignoring me. The cleaner brought round wine and a bar of chocolate and he is telling booking.com that is my compensation, certainly doesn't make up for a ruined trip, stress and wasted money. I am taking legal action against both. Disgusting, kids were absolutely gutted and traumatised

Collecting the keys to the property was easy via the lockbox

The property is incredibly different to what is advertised. There is a old, musky smell in the front room, there are loose cables in the corner of the front room, the kitchen was outdated with dirty glasses and food from the previous ‘tenants’ still on the washing up pads. The decking out the back is broken with wood sticking out and we had a cigarette butt left over on the patio. The bathroom needs updating with a new toilet that doesn’t have stains at the bottom of it. We had no heating the first two nights as it wasn’t working, the owner came round the last night and had trouble getting it working but eventually managed to. They then blamed us and said we had accidentally turned the boiler off which wasn’t the case when we complained to booking.com. The description on of the ad says ‘Serene’, there is a main road out front and a motorway out the back so how this is classed as serene is beyond me.

I liked very little I didn't get In touch with the host as these are things that cannot be rectified in one day - but the house is very very grubby. Pictures are massively misleading with hardly any of the original products actually in the house . See my pictures of proof.

Horrid smell in the living room Like unclean so lit the candle for 2 days Very dirty stained walls , the whole place needs redecorating Battered fridge like it's been taken out of a skip Kitchen cupboard door broken Not one tea towel Grubby radiators No plug for bathroom sink Not one full length mirror Cheap springy mattress and torn headboard Old grubby fan No blind in bathroom or any of the windows , stains on curtains No chairs to the table outside WiFi horrendous , TV buffering and laptop struggling One neighbour hammering at 10 30pm One of the worst kept places I've stayed In and I've stayed in about 200 Not of a good standard .

The house was so cosy and the host was so quick to reply! Genuinely never had such an easy booking! Bonus is the next door neighbours are friendly (probably because we was respectful and offered them our extra bottles of pop lol). The location was in a nice place and quite cheap to get to the center by taxi.

Would have loved a pair of sissors but that is genuinely the only thing I could think of because everything else was so nice.
