Casa da Marechal - Boutique House by Oporto Collection

This stately house with welcoming common spaces, a beautiful and restful pool and patio area (we had a wonderful poolside picnic with goodies from the grocery a block away), and clean and comfy rooms made us so comfortable that we had a hard time leaving to explore Porto and the beaches, but when we did we were equally happy and satisfied. All the staff members were so helpful and kind--obviously proud of their casa and the warm atmosphere they helped to create. We also appreciated being able to hang around the pool after check out time while waiting for transportation to the next part of our journey. Being two blocks from the beach meant that streets were quiet and calm. We could have stayed for many more days!!

It was a little farther from central Porto than we expected which was just fine because we were looking for quiet and calm.

The room was lovely - large and comfortable.

For such an expensive suite, I would have expected more than one set of towels each. We showered on arrival and again the next morning which didn’t give the towels time to dry. I requested a fresh set the next day and they were provided, but it did mean that morning we had to reuse damp towels. Also, again in keeping with the room rate, I found it very disappointing that if you wanted to use a tea bag it cost €3 and a coffee pod €2, as per the mini bar menu. If much cheaper establishments such as Airbnb can provide complimentary tea and coffee, I don’t understand why an expensive hotel charges restaurant prices. Some seat cushions for the balcony chairs would also have been greatly appreciated. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, but you sometimes had to go searching for them.

An amazing stay in a quiet location, with direct public transport access to the city center and very friendly hotel staff. Private parking for free.

The breakfast could be improved — there was a lack of vegetables and eggs.

It is a 9 bedroom boutique hotel, which always makes you feel special and conceited. The facilities are everything you would want and need if you just want to stay in, or if you want to get to see Porto. The staff is absolutely delightful. They seem and work like a dozen people even though they are just a few. Alberto with his big welcoming smile has the best recommendations to see Porto as a local. And Elisa has more hands than an octopus. My Fiancée could not hold back her smile during our whole stay, and it was all thanks to the attention and personalized care that the staff so willfully and dutifully provided. I have stayed in boutique hotels all around the world, and what differentiates them ultimately is the treatment. Any hotel can have the material things, but to have a committed staff that works as if they owned the place, really identified and proud with the luxurious brand they represent, that is the key differentiator. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped, and the whole building is tastefully decorated. Even the scent is thought of. You feel in luxury, because you are in it

Nothing, I came to spend my anniversary with my couple, and I will surely come back again. I sincerely hope they keep the formula working.

Lovely rooms, really quaint, great pool are and gym and spa facilities. Made even better by the staff and the services which was honestly top notch. The gentleman at the front desk was so helpful, he really made the stay. Hope to return!

Nothing! I had an issue with my room but it was quickly sorted out and of no fault to the hotel.

Our host was very friendly and accommodating. We left the car parked at the hotel and took the convenient bus to downtown Porto. Evening walks by the ocean near sunset were delightful.

Breakfast fare was lighter with fewer options than at other places we stayed.
