Happy Hammocks, Weligama Beach - Sri Lanka

I had initially planned to stay for a couple of nights but ended up extending my stay to almost 10 days. The place has a unique charm that attracts interesting travelers, creating incredible vibes. The hostel's organized activities help keep you occupied in a location where there isn't much beyond surfing and chilling. The dog is a bit peculiar, being a puppy, and hopefully, he'll become friendlier once neutered. The volunteer is the best hype-person I've encountered, possibly ever in a hostel.

Good storage space Bed curtains were very good, really darked out the space and gave good privacy Liked the plug, personal mini fan and shelf within the bed unit Great location, easy to all the restaurants and the beach Staff were really helpful Nice activities organised pretty much daily.

Bathrooms in slight disrepair - lock broke (although they called someone to fix it within 24hrs of being notified) and the holder for toiletries kept falling off the wall. Very little to prevent mosquitos getting into the bathroom/room. I had a specific request I messaged about when I booked that was not responded to. Top bunk ladders are quite uncomfortable to climb. You have to pay to rent a towel. You have to provide your own lock (or buy from the hostel) for the locker Suits more of a young backpacker vibe - often people are smoking in the social outdoor seating which then is carried into the indoor seating area. Other guests don’t seem to clean up after themselves - when I left to surf in the morning, the outdoor table was covered end to end with empty beer cans etc. Not the fault of the hostel, the staff were all absolutely lovely, but just FYI incase you’re after a different atmosphere.

A great hostel with a great location. Not far from the bus station or beach. There always some activity and a WhatsApp group to make it easier. Common area is really nice and easy to meet people. Nice with a kitchen as well!

The rooms without AC can smell a bit damp, I guess some of the rooms and bathrooms need a upgrade

The hostel vibe was nice and the location was great.

Staff could have been more helpful... and the rooms plus the bathrooms could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Also the hostel dog was a bit aggresive and went into the rooms and even chewed up one of the guest's sandals.

The staff! The guys are doing it great. They try to include everyone in the group. It's a social and chill hostel that go partying eveywhere else so it's perfect. If you feel like party you join if you don't feel like partying you stay in the nicest common areas talking and having a tea with others. They have daily activities to make it like a family

Had a great stay! Loved the location, off the main street so was quiet but right in the centre near the supermarket and everything else. One simple thing that I appreciated was that the bathroom was clean and there was always toilet roll and soap. Enjoyed the family dinner and the lovely hosts. I ended up extending my stay for a few more nights too

The room of 8 I was in was super hot and difficult to sleep in so I moved to a room of 4 which was less hot. They told me they're getting air con in that room though so shouldn't be a problem anymore

The hostel is by far the best and most social hostel I have ever been to! The hostel is located 50m from a big supermarket and about 100m from the beach(where all the surf schools are located). The Hostel is very clean and the beds are very comfortable. It also has a kitchen where you can prepare your own food and a very good café. I booked for 3 nights and ended up staying about a month. The Staff is great and very helpful with anything you need. I loved this place and can’t wait to come back!!
