"Lovely romantic stay but not good for disability, if you need internet or travelling alone"

5.0

Lovely location. Peaceful and nice views. Accommodation nicely done and owner helpful with regards to local facilities

The accommodation I booked was up very steep steps and not accessible to me. Luckily there was an accessible hut that was free but I had to pay an extra £25 which is a couple of nights camping or another hostel when I’m on tour! I didn’t want to pay this total amount for the night but had no choice (and actually felt discriminated against) It did have a hot tub but I couldn’t get it about 31c and just made me miss my partner even more (I’m widowed) Advertises internet but absolutely none and no phone signal so could not upload my vlog!

"A comfier version of camping. Everting there that you need."

7.0

Unusual property. Kept us dry and warm.

Thankful for fridge, but it was outside due to lack of space. Water dropped out of bottom of the caravan, where there was a waste tank missing. Had a friendly cat pop by and a peacock hanging around. Tried ignoring it, but it squared up to me whilst getting something out of my car and kicked me - which shook me up somewhat.

"Read all reviews before going. Description doesn’t match reality."

3.0

Owner Ceri was friendly and met us on site. Showed us the accommodation we had booked. Ty Gwenyn is the tiniest Gypsy van, we looked it over and were really disappointed,it just didn’t look how it was described or photographed. We couldn’t possibly stay 2 nights comfortably with our stuff in that van. The bed was only slightly larger than a single, the fridge was outside, there was not enough room to sit inside, let alone for any bags, no shower just toilet(which ok we assumed). The pictures and write up did not match our expectations. Ceri said the larger cabin had become available due to a cancellation so showed us that. It was extra per night but felt we really had no choice. We agreed to “upgrade” and when she saw my disappointment did discount it. Then I fully expressed my disappointment of the accommodation on offer, the expectation versus reality. Ceri then later gave us the upgrade money back as her priority is on providing a great tourism for the area. (The next morning Ceri offered to refund our second night so we could book elsewhere that I had mentioned but moving for a one night booking is not particularly our favourite and trying to book one night is often harder and more expensive. We had booked 2 nights to relax on a farm setting, the setting wasn’t ideal so we explored the area. One night booking was not what we needed. The cabin was sufficient for our needs but if I’d known everything, I would have booked elsewhere that was cheaper than these ended up being, with lovely outlooks and facilities, plus a full breakfast each morning. Upgraded cabin - great sleep, the bed was very comfortable, bathroom was fine, as was shower - hot enough. Front deck had two deck chairs you could lounge in but I’m not sure why you’d sit there and look out onto junk. There was a hot tub on the veranda but we didn’t use it. The three star rating is for the upgraded cabin, if it was for our original booking of Ty Gwenyn I would give it 1)

These comments are about the bigger cabin but some apply to the whole set up. Wifi was atrocious. Either could not get signal, or it was intermittent. Kept dropping out. Tried to watch Netflix which was provided on the tv but had it stop on us every 30 seconds at times. The exhaust fan in the cabin was not working so cooking anything set off the smoke alarm several times. Stools to sit on for eating, one was so wobbly it was dangerous. Tried to tighten it but couldn’t. General outlook of the area was very unappealing. There was just a lot of junk everywhere around. Old rusty cars, boats, semi trailer lying around. Looked like a junk yard. Outlook from the cabin was onto the back of the house with old broken timber, glasshouse everywhere. Just extremely unattractive. It is a working farm so there are multitude of dogs, cats and even a peacock, great. But working farm does not mean junk yard. Room for improvement by cleaning up the area, planting hedges or screens or even moving the cabin up to the top field which was away from the junk. (This is where camping is allowed). Cabin on an idyllic country working farm is not the reality.

"Failed to meet every single basic expectation."

3.0

If you are seeking a genuine gypsy experience, staying in a grotty caravan surrounded by decaying boat hulls and a smouldering rubbish fire, then is is for you!

Filthy room, no shower, no kettle, no fridge, muddy dirty location, surrounded by rubbish.

"Horrid experience No owners on site"

1.0

Nothing

It was advertised as a Chalet but was a very small shepherds hut. So small that my husband would not fit into the bed, too tall and I am claustrophobic so we could not stay there. Also the bedroom had a fusty smell. The toilet is so small, The seat in the living area is too small to be comfortable. Did not see the owners, key was left in the door for us. We were told after booking that it was £25 for my dog for one night!! That was not on booking .coms website so a big shock for one night. When My husband got out of our car he stepped in dog mess! The outside seating ? see photo. The view from the hut? see photo, old boats and mess. Not farming related. I am all for rustic but.. I am from a farming background so happy in the working farm environment but kids are on this site with all the mess about. The whole place was a tip, mess and old boats and corrugated iron everywhere. I am very upset with our experience and they did not reply to my text saying I could not stay as it was too claustrophobic for me I asked them to reply to m e again today and she said too late in day to rebook o no refund. But she was NOT on site so couldn't do anything anyway not as advertised . I don't expect to see this on review on the website.

"Beautiful views, cosy and clean."

10.0

Super cute and cosy. Everything you need for a simple stay. We booked last minute and had a really difficult drive over and they made us feel so welcome and gave recommendation for a stunning walk which we loved! Bonus for the views, cute dogs, cats and pony!!

Could have done with some hand soap but otherwise more than content.

"We found the host Ceri to be very helpful and we enjoyed being on a farm. A great spot from which to explore the area."

We actually transferred to Ty Olwen Bach which was a slightly bigger gypsy caravan than Ty Gwenyn. It was great for the two of us and our two dogs. The location was great, and the outdoor space was nice.

Ty Gwenyn would probably have been a bit two small for two adults ( including a 6 foot man), so we were fortunate to change.

"A great stay"

9.0

Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely sweet animals! Very much enjoyed our stay, the cabin provided just the right balance of comfort and challenge to make for a lovely stay close to nature. Photos and description are 100% accurate so as long as you've taken the time to see what you're booking there shouldn't be any unpleasant surprises. It was also really nice that there were walking routes left in our cabin, one of which we loved the look of and ended up doing instead of the one we had planned. It was the Blaen y Glyn waterfalls loop walk – challenging but very rewarding! Bed was super comfy as well and it was nice to have our own toilet/sink in our cabin (showers are communal just FYI) On arrival, there was a kitchen roll, two toilet paper rolls, a fresh tea towel, sponge and dish soap left for us as well which was nice + antibacterial spray under the sink. All very important if you plan to use the kitchen and all the kinds of things one wouldn't remember to bring!

More of a suggestion rather than something we "didn't like": a cover for the outside bit might be nice so if it's raining you can still get to the fridge/sit outside/have a BBQ etc. 😊

Quirky, different, creative. Loads of animals. Very rustic so if you are expecting immaculate place then this might not be for you.
