The Driftwood Surfer Beachfront Hostel / Restaurant / Bar, El Paredon

The atmosphere, people are very friendly and the restaurant is delicious! Surfing lessons were also nice!

Music all day long from the hostel, but also from two night clubs next to it. Sometimes till 5:00 am…

awesome location and activities, comfortable beds. got pretty warm at night even though the room felt freezing cold when getting in.

horrible smokers place, don't go if you don't want to be harassed even by the staff smoking behind the bar and everybody literally everywhere except indoors. you need smoking areas! felt like on a techno rave in the middle of the day. not exactly a relaxing beach atmosphere. consider noice level and choice of music please. not enough power sockets and no individual lights. hostel full of french Canadians so hard to make conversation speaking English and Spanish. pillows need replacement. asked for an additional blanket 3x and got none. hostel is full of sand but didn't mind to much. water-refill could be placed outside the dorm to not wake everyone by people refilling in the middle of the night. same goes for squeaking and slamming doors. not all showers worked in the dorm but plenty of others to use, including outdoor stalls. no save luggage storage as it gets put in the co-working "room" where everyone can walk in and see in through glas. hostel staff (not the volunteers) were rude and unmotivated

Overall, my stay was acceptable, and the staff was generally polite. However, I experienced an uncomfortable interaction with the night security guard, which could have been handled in a more professional and respectful manner. The situation felt particularly vulnerable, as the guard was carrying a firearm, which naturally heightened the tension, since I was approached in a rude and arrogant way Additionally, there were no clearly stated rules regarding the pool lounge seats usage hours. Clear guidelines or visible signage would have helped avoid this situation altogether. Management responded appropriately when I write about ir vía email after my stay, which I appreciate. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.

I really enjoyed the three days here. Nice pool, volleybal and hostal is on the beach. But here are some remarks... If you book a dorm for 2 persons in booking the price is not correct. I contact the hostel and explained with several printscreens and long texts. They kept saying that the price was correct. So i cancelled the booking and booked It again 2 times for 1 person. And the price was €50 lower... And after this booking they just said: 'You are right, now I see'... So my only conclusion is they tried to scam us or they are to stupid to know their own prices. And the dorm is not for 8 persons, It is just 1 dorm for 20 persons...

El personal del hotel se comunica principalmente en inglés. Considerando que el hotel se encuentra en Guatemala, donde el idioma oficial es el español, sería ideal que también puedan atender en español, ya que no solo reciben huéspedes de distintos países, sino también visitantes locales.
