Georgian 4 Bedroom 3 Bathroom New Town Apartment

V smart and large apartment. Excellent location for New Town and Leith, and a shortish walk up to Old Town. Recommended.

We loved everything

Nothing. Everything was first class

We were two families of four staying for four nights (Hogmanay). The property is amazing. I have NEVER stayed anywhere with a kitchen that is so well equipped. There was never once a shortage of plates or pans or glasses. The utensils were plentiful. Oven was fast. Everything was easy to use. The photos on the listing really do not do this property justice. It was absolutely stunning. The central heating was a perfect ambient temperature. The log burners were cosy. The height of the ceiling was stunning. Huge windows and great views. Lovely decor. It was a perfect balance of lots to do and see, and only a short walk to retreat back to calm and peaceful. The host, Mark, was extremely helpful. Very communicative. In interactions, he seemed a genuinely pleasant guy. All through the holiday, we couldn't stop talking about how nice the property was. I'd highly recommend this property. Yes, it's pricey, but that's due to the location, size of property and character/period features. It is worth the money to stay here, if you can afford it.

1) I would have given it ten stars, but I have knocked a star off for the beds. The master bedroom does have a decent sized bed. However, the other 3 bedrooms all only have double beds (or small doubles?). The rooms are all huge and could easily house bigger beds. So I don't know the reason for doubles, rather than king size? I'd also suggest that one, or two of the rooms have two single beds in them, instead of the doubles as this would be more versatile for families. Couples can always push together if required. There was also one of the bedrooms that has a mezzanine (amazing and kids loved hiding up there), but there was a desk under the mezzanine that looks to be unused(?), if that's the case - it would be easy to put a single bed under there, or even a bunk bed, lose the desk. This would increase flexibility and capacity. 2) This is a petty one... But the toilet flush/drains are pretty naff. But it's an old building and I'd imagine can't do anything about that. 3) The doors need oiling. When going the loo in the night , en-suite door was very loud. Same for some other doors when I woke up early and was trying to sneak about so as not to wake others. All very minor. Didn't affect our stay much. We worked around with the beds. And listing does state the beds are doubles. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Extra sets of keys provided so all guests could have a set. Apartment superbly furnished and kitchen well stocked with utensils, crockery etc. Excellent instructions left by host
