Villa Atyfia - With Private Heated Pool

Stunning villa in a stunning location, photos do not do the view justice. Set in a quiet hillside location with only sheep or goats to disturb the peace, yet only 10 or 15 minutes easy drive from major supermarkets in Rethymno such as Lidl and A.B. Villa is in a secure setting with electric gate controlled by key fob. Driveway is a good length and has plenty of space to park and turn around. Access to the villa is by either steps or a ramp with flat entry to the villa. Single bedroom in the basement with a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Ground floor has main kitchen and living space, a twin bedroom that can be set up as a double (which has access to the terrace/pool area) and bathroom with large walk-in shower, sink and toilet. Kitchen is an excellent size, a proper useable family kitchen, with plenty of storage, large fridge and freezer, hob and standing height oven (so no need to bend down). 1st floor has the other 2 bedrooms - one double that uses the main bathroom on that floor and the main master bedroom which has an en-suite and access to the 1st floor terrace area. Access to the terrace is also available from the landing area. Plenty of built-in clothing storage in the master bedroom and stand-alone wardrobes in the other bedrooms. Air conditioning in all bedrooms and the main living space which functions wonderfully. Internet/wifi in the property is good speed and coverage for the location - enabled 5 of us to all be on mobile devices at the same time. 5G mobile signal is available in most areas of the villa too via the COSMOTE provider. All TV's in the property are wifi connected too enabling access to all usual streaming services.

Unfortunately the day we arrived we arrived to a huge sandstorm which had turned the sky orange and left an impressive layer of sand over, on and in anything outside. This sadly included the swimming pool which had to be fully drained as a result. However the lovely husband and wife owners personally came to pressure wash all the outside areas very thoroughly, including the eventually empty pool. Once sparkling clean the pool was set to refill but this all meant that having arrived Sunday we could not use the outside area or pool till the Thursday. The weather then turned to rain and thunder and lightning on the Friday. Also worth commenting on is the lack of walk-in showers, or even a wall-mounted shower, on the 1st floor. The en-suite to the master bedroom has a big spa corner bath (on which there seems to be no ability to use the jets) with a hand-held shower running off the taps for the bath. The main bathroom has a standard bath with bath to ceiling shower screens but again only a hand-held shower head running off the taps. Considering the wonderful bathrooms on the ground and basement level it is a little disappointing that the 1st floor seems to have been left behind in this respect. Only other even slightly negative comment is in respect of the hot water. If you are a regular visitor to the greek islands you will know that most villas have solar heated water and all showers run straight off this heated water. This means that on less sunny days you can have less hot water and pressure isn't usually that great. As all showers in the villa, even those lovely walk-in showers, run straight off this hot water provision, the heat of the showers is controlled by the proportion of hot and cold water you choose to use. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a stable control of this temperature despite repeated try's.
