Joe's Beach Shack - Beach resort, Ramanathapuram

Great location. The villas were totally worth the price. Very peaceful and green property. Lots of space. Food was simple but cheap and tasty.

The double rooms were terrible. They were not clean and extremely congested. Not worth the price. No wifi. Very slow and inexperienced staff, not very helpful.

It’s all surrounded by coconut trees!

No phone connection, no WiFi, you can only pay by cash. Please bring a lot of cash with you!

The property is nice. It's well spread out and has things like a pool and a badminton/ volleyball net. It's also located within walking distance of a beach. It is pet friendly as well. The staff were polite and helpful during our stay.

For the price that they charge, the size of the room was very small. I'd say the cost can be adjusted to better reflect the space, especially since they are about 30 minutes outside Rameshwaram itself. The room wasn't ready for us to check in even though we arrived at 4 pm. I understand if they take some time to get things ready, but by 4 pm it should have been done. The room had a problem with insects for the entire night. This is probably a side effect of the property having so much greenery - which isn't a bad thing in itself - but they could figure out some way to better handle the insects in the room. It also takes them a couple of hours to prepare any meals. They are upfront about this and ask you to place an order well in advance, which addresses the issue to a certain extent, but is still an important factor to consider since there aren't many places to eat within walking distance.
