The cottage is amazing with beautiful views of Te Maya Peak. We really felt so relaxed there & Van is a super host too.

Was a cute comfy older small cottage. Was very quirky but comfortable. The bathroom was very well set out and had a heated towel rail and a good shower. Loved being left a loaf of bread, eggs and fruit etc. Very appreciated. Owner was very friendly. The bed was very comfy. Good heating . A number of fresh flowers were in each room. Parking was just outside and it was a very private location. Great cafe not far from the house

Was old and didnt feel totally clean due to older timber kitchen benches, cupboards betc. Cutting boards could well do with being replaced. Deck area and outside table had a lot of wax which really should have been cleaned up. This was pointed out but nothing happened. There Was a spare sofa type seating but it had holes in the fabric. A throw over it would have made it look better. The floor definitely needs repilling but it added to the quirkiness and you got use to it..

Excellent provisions provided. Cottage and amenities well presented. Comfortable bed.

Seems niggardly to say since there were so many positives, but a few basics maybe slipped by the hosts’ attention - e.g. moths in the muesli jar, tissue box but empty of tissues.

We were happy to find fresh bread, eggs, and bacon for our breakfast. Also a nice selection of tea and plunger coffee, and a bowl of plums. Breakfast on the verandah with a beautiful view was a real treat!

We enjoyed everything about our stay. No complaints.

Very warm and informative welcome from Van, and as a very welcoming touch his wife had left freshly baked bread in the kitchen, together with everything necessary for breakfast. Beautiful and secluded location SE of Te Mata peak, just over 3 km from Craggy Range cellar door. Red Bridge Cafe 1km away good if you don't want to rustle up breakfast yourself. Regenerating bush in extensive gardens, lots of native birdsong (and birdlife). Great views both from the accommodation terrace and from the bedroom of Te Mata peak. Heritage cottage sensitively updated with all necessary modern conveniences. I would definitely stay here again when visiting North Island. Ocean Beach a short (5km or so) drive away, very much deserted when I was there. A beautiful secluded "away from it all" haven and a great place to relax.
