Mathieson Apartment - 2 Bedrooms

The apartment is fine - spacious (especially for two people), clean and comfortable living spaces. Beds are also comfortable. Good value for money. The kitchen is equipped with the necessary utensils and tools to cook a full meal, with cooking oil provided. Washing machine is very useful, and clothes washing liquid is provided. There is a large grocery shop (Co-op) about 15 mins walk away. The host also provided a new fan when we inquired about whether there was a fan at the apartment. The host was able to offer earlier check in when requested, which was kind, but we were unable to make use of the early check in due to communication issues with the host. There is a tv that allows you to log in to Netflix but you'll have to use your own account.

The location and description of the location on booking.com website for this apartment is not the actual location at the time of our booking. The map on the website shows that the apartment is very close to the Bridge St subway station and the description also states that the apartment is 500 feet away from the subway station, but it is actually 20 minutes walk from the Bridge Street station. You will be able to see this if you put the property address into Google Maps. This is quite misleading. Communication with the host was difficult. In communication with him to organise check in, he did not seem organised (he did not know the details of our check in such as the date or the property we were booked in; I gather that he has many properties that he looks after). He did not respond quickly to messages on the booking.com app, but we finally managed to get a hold of him on WhatsApp using the number listed on booking.com. He does not answer direct questions. Both of these issues resulted in difficulty with planning our day before the check-in. It is not self check-in and requires a meet and greet. He had tight and strict timelines with check in, which combined with the incorrect location on booking.com, made for a stressful experience during check-in. At times, the host responded in a patronising way, such as to my query about the fan. No coffee, tea, milk, salt and pepper, kitchen items like aluminium foil is provided. No soap or shampoo provided. No black out curtains in the bedrooms which makes it hard to sleep during summer months. The hot water in the shower was erratic (hot water would turn cold, then back to hot). Water pressure was ok but not wonderful. This is the first time I have left a rating less than 9 out of 10 on booking.com accommodation, however other possible guests should be made aware of these issues.

Apartment was amazing . Very clean and had everything we wanted and there was nothing missing . The host Mr David was very helpful and quick to respond for any queries that we had . He made sure we were fully comfortable . Overall the property and host both were amazing . Highly recommend and look forward to staying at David’s place again during our next visit to Glasgow

Good location, only 20 minute walk into the centre of Glasgow. Free parking right outside the door which is a major plus. Owner very friendly and happy to help when needed.

Nothing major, just a few little things I’d like to mention. There were no oven gloves to use to take things in/out of the oven, there wasn’t any kitchen rolls or tea towels to dry pots after washing so we did have to purchase kitchen towels to use but other than that everything was good!

I stayed at this apartment for 5 days, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The location is somewhat distant from the city and metro, but the main issue was with the landlord, David. He had trouble processing the payment due to an issue with the application. Instead of handling the situation calmly, he arrived at the apartment, slammed the door, and entered without my permission when I opened it. He accused us of theft and insisted we were trying to avoid payment, even though it was a technical problem. He also demanded to take a picture of our passport, then took the passport and refused to return it. His behavior was intrusive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I would not recommend staying here, as the landlord’s actions violated our privacy and made us feel uncomfortable. It’s not a place where you’ll be treated with respect as a guest.
