Needed a cheap overnight stay in the area & it did the job. Traditional pub downstairs & close to station.

No hot water to shower in the morning, but not a problem as there's a bath as well.

"I only stayed 10min and I left to find another hotel to stay. Presentation of the room was shocking"

2.0

The location, close to the city centre, the car parking

My room was very cold, no heater was on. There was a radiator electrical heater in the room. I was told that the main heater is on a timer so god knows when the heater would come on and for how long. The window did not close and left a big opening allowing cold air in. I was told that is because the building is old... There was only 1 electrical socket in the room, there was no kettle and tea bags (like in so many other hotels) for making a cup of tea, the television was only tuned to 4 channels, no proper solution to hang up my cloths, no proper solution to keep my suitcase, I paid £90.00 for a 2night stay. I hope that the hotel management uses my £90.00 to at least fix the defective window in the room for the next customer.

"Wild horses would not drag me back here"

1.0

There was nothing about this dreadful hole that i can recommend. It was cheap (ish) and clean (ish) but that was about it. A real dive.

I have stayed in many inns and hotels in the UK and this was by far the worst experience I have had over the years. I would not say here again if you paid me to. It was dreadful. Dark, unwelcoming and bloody freezing. I was born in Yorkshire so i know what the climate is like in late November but on the whole, most accommodation would provide heating as standard - this had none! In fact we had to ask for some as it was 5 degrees outside (and not much more inside). When I requested a partial refund this (and i quote) was the reply from the landlady: "The heating is on a timer that takes the general chill off. Our building is over 500 years old and unfortunately it doesn't retain heat very well. We have found the oil radiators very effective so maybe you didn't leave it on long enough. We apologize if you were still cold but unfortunately it is always cold in Yorkshire especially given it is now winter so we would expect that guests would bring suitable night clothes with them." Ah - i see - so it's my fault!!! Silly me, i didn't realise. If the heating was on a timer this must have been about 2 days before we arrived - it was stone cold when we got there. The electric oil radiator (we had to ask for!) would've easily warmed up a broom cupboard but nothing bigger. As for bringing night clothes - this wouldn't cut it. I slept in all my regular clothes and it was still cold. Pay the extra and stay somewhere decent.
