Little Thatch Cottage - Cerne Abbas, Dorset

A lovely cosy cottage well appointed, close to the high street. Very well equipped and so clean.

Easy to locate and parking immediately outside door. Really well equipped cottage. Small but nice back garden. Kitchen fittings of high quality and cupboards full of everything you might need. That said, 3 very good pubs within easy walking distance, not to mention a weekly fish and chip van and a curry van that smelt delicious. The village shop is also excellent with fresh bread goods and a deli. Nice and warm on a damp day… in fact we turned the radiators down. The double bed was very comfortable with nice bedlinen. Didn’t try the single, but this was a nicely decorated room too.

I booked Little Thatch for an elderly friend. I know Cerne Abbas very well over many years and Little Thatch is a quintessential village cottage. Thatched and attractive looking. I didn't stay there but my friend was happy with everything.

It was all good. There is an inevitable trade-off between a tidy, well appointed holiday cottage and a true homely dwelling. Thatched nineteenth century workers cottages are always going to be a little dark and austere.
