Santana Madeira Hiking Getaway near Pico Ruivo and Levadas Base

The house was simply perfect, and in a very convenient position for the hiking pathways. Lili and Marco are the most kind and helpful people I ever met, they really made the stay outstanding. I could not recommend this accommodation more!

The house is very well located, close to hiking trails of North coast of Madeira. We enjoyed the authenticity of the place. Basically, it is located at the edge of the village, the house is surrounded by locals, or better say local farmers with their domestic animals (cows, goats and sheep) grazing in the neighbourhood. There is also a private parking place right next to the house. The house has only small windows; however, the view from the kitchen on the north coast of the Atlantic was nice.

Please mind that the house has two floors (with two separate entrances), we were in the upper floor, and the lower floor was rented to someone else. The house, especially bathroom might get cold during nights (bathroom window and window frame does not isolate at all), but if needed there are two portable electric heaters - radiators. The only window from the bathroom and one side window from the bedroom are directly onto the terrace which is rented to someone else (rented lower floor of the house).

Communication with Lili was great.

Lili (the owner) is a lovely host. She was super helpful and provided a lot of recommendations and useful advice. She responded quickly when we had a question or there was a problem that needed her assistance.

Although nicely decorated, the flat is missing some more furniture so that it doesn't echo. You have to use electric heaters (that can only be placed in awkward locations) because it gets very cold if it's not hot outside. There's also a lot of condensation forming inside the flat, so you have to keep the windows open to release the moisture. Windows are small, which hinders the atmosphere and reduces the feeling of being in an exotic destination and you can't enjoy much of the advertised view.

Great location for hikes and access to the north coast. Private parking space is a great asset, ideally closely located to a supermarket too.

The location, comfort, and chatting with Lili and Marco. Lili provided us with a lot of information on the island and shared many things to do and different festivals happening.

Everything was great, the house nice and very clean, equipped with everything you may need for a comfortable stay, the host very nice and friendly, we even got a bottle of wine as a welcome gesture.
