L'Astrolabe - Private Beach

I am a solo traveler who works remotely and is visiting Catanduanes for the first time. I am worried and anxious frequently. But, the owner and staff have been extremely accommodating with all my inquiries. They provided me with a sense of ease and safety. The staff provided me with assistance in arranging tours and activities as well.

Frequent power outages on the island, it's just short durations, the longest part was 4 hours during the afternoon. (This is UNCONTROLLABLE by the resort owner by the way. I just wanted to let you know and share that if there is NO power, there is NO WiFi as well. The resort's WiFi is the only working internet service in the area, FYI.

If you want to live an experience far from the noisy city crowd and find some innerpeace in the middle of the nature, you definitily found the right spot. You just have 2 very tidy bungalows (one small for single or couples and one familial one) in front of a small private beach. The short path going down to the bungalows is serpenting through the forest and offering very nice points of view, keeping you isolated from the road. Perfect to cut yourself off the civilisation for a couple of lazy days and for a very fair price !

Siguro mas nice pag may staff din na mgsstay sa lugar. Then yung sabitan lng ng towel and clothes sa cr po. Haha

I loved how private the resort is specially the kubo area. Perfect venue for honeymoon. Also the owners are very accommodating. Also the tilapia in the fishpond are very delicious

No electricity though there are solar lights and efan that lasts for a couple of hours only (3-4 hrs) The resort is very steep and the accommodation isn’t applicable small kids, senior citizens and PWDz

The place is perfect for solitude and tranquility. A short 2km walk to the next village can supply you with food water. All the basics are there. If you E anything to complain about then you’re missing the point.

That being said :)) there were workman there building a secondary property on the 2nd and 3rd days which did shatter my illusions of paradise. Best to check before booking that this work is completed , unless you want the company.

The biggest plus is undoubtedly its affordable rates, especially the hut by the beachside. The rates are reasonable, making it an attractive option for those looking to experience Catanduanes without breaking the bank. Another plus is its location. Nestled away from Puraran Beach, L'Astrolabe offers a serene retreat for those seeking to be off the grid. With nothing but the waves and the chirping of crickets in the evening, the setting is perfect for those who are looking for solace and rejuvenation. The staff is welcoming, and ever-ready to assist. Their genuine hospitality adds a personal touch to the stay, making guests feel like they are part of a family.

While the isolated location contributes to the tranquil atmosphere, it can be a double-edged sword. The lack of nearby dining options means that guests need to bring their own meals or be prepared to travel to Puraran. (Guests can fish for their own meals at the pond, though. Also, according to the owner, they plan to open a restaurant soon.) For those reliant on staying connected, the lack of electric outlets and Wi-Fi may at the hut might present a challenge as well. Finally, the paths are not PWD- nor senior-friendly, so the place is really for fit travelers.

It is a really exceptional experience to be directly at the beach and hear the waves while falling asleep! The owners are extremely helpful and kind! It was a great pleasure to stay at the Kobo!

Solar panels could be placed a bit better to ensure electricity on cloudy days.
