Sealy Retreat - Lake Tekapo

The location was exceptional and the house itself was spacious, clean and tidy on arrival, which we appreciated.

Unfortunately, there were a number of issues that made our stay less comfortable than expected. The shower head was broken when we arrived, and the spare toilet door would not close or lock. The property is also connected to another unit by a locked internal door, which was not made clear at the time of booking. This was particularly concerning with our 3-year-old sleeping in the room next to that door, as we had to trust it was securely locked from both sides. Firewood was very limited, only enough for the first night, and no clear instructions were provided for how to get more. On our first night, two unknown men walked down the side of the house past the master bedroom and lounge. We assume they may have been workers, but it was unsettling—especially with our young family inside. Finally, the kitchen cookware was poor quality; the pots and pans burned food easily and were difficult to clean, which made cooking more of a chore than it should have been as we are more of a cooking family as opposed to eating out when on holiday.
