The location and old house look.

The furniture in the room dated with stains. Due to room being advertised by .com. So the room offered is generally lacking in most things.

We stayed in the train carriage with our own hot tub and it was class, you pass it on the way in and its close to the house so you dont have to walk far at all. Food was outstanding and the staff where lovely to deal with and very helpful.

forgot me glasses and couldn't find the big towels at the side of the bed but me had lovely robes.

Location is pretty

The hotel was cold, even in the restaurant. The toilet was so cold it was uncomfortable. When we went to our room we had to ring as there was no toilet paper. They were to send robes to our room for spa, this didn’t happen. When I rang a few days before to arrange treatments they were booked out which was fine, however they never mentioned that the spa access that is free with your stay was limited to 2 hours and needed to be booked. We did mange to get a slot for the next morning but this was very disappointing to be so limited. I know others guests had the same problem. I appreciate it is an old building and that is cold but not so cold that you can sit comfortably whilst eating. We went to the room with the fire to warm up but that started to smoke badly enough that they had to open the doors. Clearly the fireplace needs cleaning and therefore this is a fire hazard. This experience has left me quite frustrated as it was a special occasion. They left chocolates and a card with happy anniversary on it however it was my husband’s 50th birthday not our anniversary so probably not meant for us!!! I won’t be recommending this hotel to any friends or family
