The Lodge At The Lake House

self catering the host did leave us some freshly laid eggs which we brought home with us, plus some excellent homemade bread to go with the eggs, also some chocolates, strawberries, a fresh grown cucumber and some lovely sweet tomatoes. plus some fruit and milk there was also other items, tea coffee and milk.

There was nothing not to like, we were made very welcome.

Sanne and Tim were the perfect hosts, they were so kind and helpful. We were welcomed with a bottle of Rose and a gorgeous home baked cake. The grounds were absolutely perfect!

We chose to stay at the Lodge at The Lake House as we were attending a festival nearby. We loved the location in the West Sussex countryside in beautiful grounds and away from main roads.

Hard to find something that we didn't like.

Not included but the host provided tea/coffee, fruit and the most beautiful fresh eggs from her chickens

The lodge itself was comfortable with everything you would need and tastefully decorated too. Although set on the sprawling main grounds of the owners’ home, you have privacy. Early morning walks down to the lake and little meadow was indescribably magical. It is a quiet location with access to lots of public footpaths. The cottage itself is so cosy and the lake so beautiful that you could easily not venture out! Sanne, the owner, was warm and hospitable beyond words , from the home baked bread and assortment of meds when I fell ill, to the most delicious cake that she wrapped up for us on the day we were leaving. We were in awe of her kindness, as well her passion for nature and conservation. The beautiful rare hens that she breeds were a sight to behold! All in all, it was a really special experience and we were sad to leave!

Absolutely nothing!

Location was stunning. Very special to be able to take our cups of tea in the morning down to the tranquil lake walking through the wildflower meadow. There's also a high quality sheltered tennis court on site, which (if you check with the owners in advance) is effectively for your private use. We didn't even get round to using the rowboat on the lake, next time! Lodge is comfortable and has good facilities (powerful hot shower, modern cooker/fridge/sink/microwave/kettle and lots of good quality pans + crockery). Owners left some treats out for our arrival. There's a village shop nearby which is well stocked, including fresh fruit/veg.

Bed was on the short side for me (6'2"), perhaps consider a lighter duvet in the summer.
