Dorset Hotel, Isle of Wight

Premises had great history! Good, comfortable relaxing area near reception. Breakfast was great, good menu selection and varieties of teas and cereals, hot food was served very quickly and to our liking!

I'm sorry to be picky, but the water pressure for the shower was pretty low in the room we stayed in.

The location was good. It is close to shops, bars, cafes & restaurants. The room was clean. They'd left a fan on in the room (no air con & it was a very hot day)

1st impressions of the reception weren't good - New carpets are needed. It's dated. Nobody in 'reception' to meet us - we waited 5 minutes then rang the bell. When someone came she seemed annoyed with us for arriving 15 mins before check in time. (Traffic had been kind to us & sometimes rooms are ready early. However, all we really wanted to do was check if it was ok to leave the car in the car park while we went for food). When we came back to actually check in there wasn't anyone there again. We rang the bell & waited a while before someone came to us. The room was ok. It was clean & you could tell that they'd tried to slightly modernise it with nice wallpaper on 1 wall & a lovely chair in the corner. The drawers were damaged & there wasn't a wardrobe. Just a rail. The pillows are very flat. The bathroom was tiny. Small shower. We're both slim & there was little room. A larger built person would struggle. The shower was not very powerful pressure wise & it took a while to get it to the right temperature. We can't comment on the breakfast as we left early.

Very reasonably priced for what you get - I had a nice room with a lovely view. The convenience of the location is great too right near the hover port. Staff very nice.

Terrible garden room looking out onto a pile of rubbish and car park. I’m sure the heating in the room would not meet regulations. At breakfast we wanted to adjust the cooked breakfast be that was not allowed or would be charged extra!
