Mae’s Cottage in the Clouds

The cottage was delightful. Everything was clean and very comfortable. It was close to downtown for shopping and close to hiking locations. The cottage has plenty of outdoor places to relax.

We loved the scenery and the atmosphere of the home. We loved that it had 2 separate living spaces so we weren't all on top of each other.

The floor in the downstairs area was a bit uneven in some places. Couldn't use the oven and the stove top at the same downstairs. And when using the oven it smelled like a gas leak.

Everything was very nice and well done.

Great service when the hot water heater broke. Beautiful views. Easy access to the house. Close to everything.

Everything was great. We saw a few spider webs in the kitchen and bathrooms but easily cleaned them up. The home was very clean and comfortable.

Located only a few minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, beautiful older home that’s been remodeled and feels fresh and new. Tons of space, would be great for a family or group that wanted their own spaces since upstairs and downstairs have their own living areas, bathroom, kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Home was spotless, they left us a bottle of wine, even had the tv on with a crackling fireplace video playing when we arrived. Beds were super comfortable, as was all of the furnishings. Absolutely stunning views as well. My only regret was that we didn’t have more time there! Excellent communication from host as well. We brought our gas-powered car but we have an EV that we’d feel comfortable bringing next time since they have a charger there, allowing us to make it from Atlanta, charge at the house, then drive back without having to stop. Lots of thoughtful touches throughout the home, too many to mention: you can tell the host truly cares about a top-notch experience!

The driveway is your typical mountain home driveway, it’s a bit steep at the entry and required extra care when backing up to turn around and drive out. We were there when the leaves were falling, which covered most of the driveway and made it tricky to see where the pavement was. I’m sure it’s fine any other time and there’s not much the host could have done to do anything about it since the leaves were really coming down. Maybe a cheap battery-operated leaf blower at the door during the fall?

The views are amazing. Great deck and area to cook outside on the barbecue grill. Nice kitchen and living room and nice bedrooms. Great bathrooms.

The driveway was very steep and slippery. Your tires will spin if there's dew on the driveway.
