"Central location, but some shortcomings keep this apartment from being a great place"

7.0

The apartment is located right in the old town (Piano) and has easy access to a host of restaurants and fabulous locations. Access to the funicular that leads to the palaces in Piazzo is but 5 minutes away. The bed was really comfortable, although the pillows were not supportive and would bunch up. Large cabinets and a dresser provide plenty of storage in the apartment. The kitchen is small, but the fridge is of a decent size and thus workable. There's a moka pot to make coffee and look for the metal plate in the cabinet to use it with the induction top. The apartment has good light, except for the bedroom where the phone flashlight provided more light than the very dim bulb in the ceiling. It was mostly clean, but I think it could use a good professional cleaning every now and then. The host was fantastic -- prompt to answer any question I had, and quick to provide some supplies that the apartment was short on.

I'm sure this will be changed in short order, but the shower tub was quite unusable. It's a weird setup, I think designed to be sat in (imagine you put a bench in your small shower, taking half of an already small space), but it's old, the enamel peeling, and though I'm sure it was cleaned, it looks quite unattractive. Not to mention that an adult cannot stand in it in any decent fashion. More utensils in the kitchen would've been useful. There are 2 forks, 2 knives, 2 spoons, 2 shallow plates, 2 deep plates. If there are 3 of you, one has to watch the other two eat There's no corkscrew for wine bottles. An electric kettle would be useful, but I guess you can boil water in one of the 2 pots provided. The furniture is modern, but cheap and flimsy. The tables wobbled; as did the bedroom cabinets when you pull the drawers. Due to how the AC is positioned, the bedroom never seems to cool down, though the living room does quickly. Good thing you can open the windows and create a draft, but then you also get to experience the person below you smoking or the German tourist yelling at his kids to stop screaming (for about 2 hours every day).
