Colo Colo Hostel - Single Private Beds

フロントのJonさんは　笑顔が素敵な可愛い系イケメンで　丁寧な説明が素晴らしかった。 バスク語も教えてくれた。 ロールカーテンで　プライベートが保たれていて　マットレスが　フカフカだった。 旧市街まで　徒歩10分。 空港行きバス乗り場まで　徒歩5分。 スーパーマーケットも近くにあり　便利な立地。

プライバシーは保たれていて混合ドミトリーでも気になりませんでした。収納も十分あり清潔で、スタッフの方の説明が丁寧でとても助かりました。チェックアウト時も「よい１日を！」と送り出してくれ心があたたかくなりました。

Colo Colo was the absolute best hostel I’ve ever stayed in, & I wish they were in every city around the world. The design was extremely well thought out - the personal lockers, the main bathroom & the kitchen were located in the basement away from the main sleeping area (on the ground floor), so sleepers were shielded from the racket of scrabbling around in luggage, packing & traipsing around for daily ablutions. The sleeping area was therefore very peaceful with minimal disturbances from people coming in & out to sleep. The sleeping pods (casitas) were fairly luxurious, especially so for a hostel, & even afforded a level of privacy with roller blinds. The mattresses were clean & very comfortable, & ventilation in the casitas were reasonable, helped in part by the fact that the sleeping area was on the ground floor & opened up to fresh air & daylight. The casitas also boasted power points with which to charge devices, with the bonus of a ledge that acts as a side table to store devices & other small devices overnight. The casitas even offered headphones & a tablet to allow streaming in bed, but I didn’t use those. The electronic lockers were easy to access & use, & very adequate for storing luggage. The pristine kitchen came with a fridge & microwave that allowed us to store & prepare light meals. The hostel even offered some beverages - fresh & lemon-infused water & coffee, which was a real treat. The shared bathroom (mixed use) was clean enough, & offered offered labelled hooks for each casita to hang their towels (available for rent at €5) & hairdryers. Perhaps it was because I stayed during low season, but I didn’t face any queues to use the bathroom. The basement also offered some seating areas & nooks for socialising, & even provided some board games to break the ice. I didn’t have time to use these facilities, but it was a nice touch.

Given the extensive list of positives about Colo Colo, these are really nice-to-haves: - The bathroom was a bit damp/humid & there was some mould visible, although not the alarming sort. Perhaps some better ventilation &/or sorting the mould on the tiles. - The bathroom also flooded slightly one night after a careless user failed to keep water within the shower area. Not the hostel’s fault, but perhaps the ledge needs to be higher, or a better system (doors rather than shower curtains) of keeping water within the shower area. - It would have been nice to have had a small stove in the kitchen with which to prepare small meals, as I don’t cook using microwave. Likely a bit too much of an ask given that San Sebastián is a foodie destination!
