"A charming cottage close to restaurants and shops. Really good value for money."

8.0

It's a lovely compact thatched roof cottage with a little private courtyard (obviously not a big attraction in winter though). The weather was quite chilly but the accommodation was remarkably warm and did not smell of damp at all. There is ample cupboard space. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped (a hot plate or induction cook top would be a nice addition). I love it when hosts provide some rusks and biscuits along with coffee and tea. It was also great to have a Nespresso machine. The bed was very comfortable and a sizeable multi adapter was provided.

I am not wild about showers without actual doors or some solid separation from the loo area; the water gets everywhere. If you are old or have dodgy knees etc. you might find the steep set of stairs a little alarming to the loft bedroom (they are absolutely fine, but it might be challenging for some). The only other minor negative for me is that there is no lock on the gate to the cottage so anyone can freely walk up to your front door. I felt somewhat harassed over two nights by a persistent individual trying to sell me wood.

"Short and sweet stay"

8.0

It was very special staying in such an old and quaint cottage. The Mouse House is the sweetest cottage in Greyton! The host was very responsive when messaged and we enjoyed the little extras - the coffee, tea and biscuits and the bottle of wine. The cottage was cold inside, but after we lit the fire, super cosy.

The cottage is smaller than it looks in photos (it is the 'Mouse House' after all, and this didn't generally bother us once we got used to that), and the upstairs is a small space (tall people would struggle). The bathroom is also a small space, and some hooks to hang up one's clothes could be an easy addition to create a bit more 'space' when changing in the bathroom.

We love the house! Made fire in fireplace while cold and raining outside. Owner provided wood. We walked to restaurants en enjoyed every minute of the 5 days there. Drove to Genadendal and visited museum, a must! Thanks host for everything you've spoiled us with.

"Quaint little cottage perfect for a solo getaway"

10.0

I booked myself and my fur child in for a solo getaway and this little home was absolutely perfect for us! The hosts were super helpful throughout the stay, and its perfectly located walking distance from the town. Can’t wait to come back to Greyton again :)

The property doesn’t have cooking facilities (oven / stove) which was actually great, as it forced me to get out and explore the restaurants in Greyton instead of cooking at the house, like I did would usually do back home.
