Old hotel, but Japanese style room and meals was a great way to have a traditional Japanese style experience. Private baths were nice (although very hot!) but public bathrooms were very, very ordinary. Area is very quiet with very few places to eat/shop and only 1 convenience store at the top of a hill. A difficult climb from the beach & beach front hotels. Winter visit may be different?

貸切露天がとにかく最高。無料だし、三個あってどれもそれぞれ雰囲気があってよかったです、時間もずらせば３個とも入れました。卓球有料だけど久々にできてとても楽しかったです。

This was our first time experiencing ryokan. The staff were very friendly but they didn't speak English that well. There was only one person who can speak a little bit of English. There were 3 private onsens that guests can use. We love these private onsens because they are private. Since our purpose of this trip was to visit different spots in Izu area and we found that staying in Izu-Atagawa was an excellent choice. The ryokan was only about 3 minutes walk from the train station and the path/way from the train station to the hotel was really quiet and peaceful. It is down hill from the train station but the hotel has the shuttle, so you don't need to worry about carrying a big luggage from the hotel to the train station. The hotel is pretty old but very clean. It is not a deluxe hotel but it has everything that you need. I found the price is very reasonable. Food was good too. However they are Japanese breakfast and dinner. We stayed there for 3 nights and we found that we had more than enough Japanese breakfasts and dinners for those 3 days. If you want to try out ryokan, I would recommend this hotel and location. Location wise, it is very central to everywhere along the east coast of Izu Penisula. We really enjoyed our trips in this area.
