"Booking confirmed and fully paid, yet the property wasn’t available"

The alternative apartment (not Empress at College) was well located at Above Bar St. and with good layout.

We booked Empress at College and had already paid in full but got a message from the property saying it was not available and offered us an alternative apartment. How can they say that it is not available when it has been confirmed and charged full payment? Furthermore the alternative apartment shows a lower price in booking.com. But as we have been fully charged, we didn’t want the hassle of asking for refund and looking for another accommodation, we accepted the alternative apartment for the same price. Also the property contact person didn’t communicate things very clearly which had me worrying at the back of my mind whether the alternative apartment was actually available for us. I had to ask them a few times about check in details and only got it the day before check in.
