Two-bed Apartment on Big Bay Beach Club,Cape Town

Pleasant & clean rooms but there were several things not functioning which I reported to Fiona , except the very loose toilet seat which I forgot to mention . Before I go further , I wish to point that Fiona was always most pleasant & most helpful with the booking of the apartment & explaining the set out .

As reported to Fiona after the first night,1) the kitchen sink , the first morning after the washing the few breakfast , must have been blocked , then when I let the water out it moved very slowly & water with gunge overflowed into the empty sink into it . I used a dish cloth as a "pump" by blocking the drain & "pumping" & it seemed to release the blocked drain 2) the electric blanket on the double bed did not work . 3) we didn't use the one single bed next to the bedroom door but there doesn't seem to be an electric blanket plug for it . Fiona did offer to have imthis seen to but as our stay was short & full busy days , it was inconvenient to be there for any workers . We made do with the blankets that were supplied 4) the toilet seat is very loose & wobbly & we didn't have the correct tool to tighten it 5) it would have been nice to have a bedside lamp between the 2 single beds ...I had to use my cell phone light to get to the bathroom during the night . It's impossible for Fiona to know about this unless the cleaner or a handymen reports the problems because clients are not always forthcoming . We didn't need the cleaner, because it was also inconvenient to interrupt our shirt stay - I had flown from Durban to meet up with my daughter , her spouse & my little granddaughter , who had flown from the Netherlands for the little one's birthday party so there was no time to hang around for the cleaner / workers . We were hardly in the apartment. Once again , Fiona was a very pleasant hostess but I have to be honest about the problems mentioned above , it's to your future advantage .

The place was beautiful, and the stay was super comfortable. I'd definitely go again. The host was also really helpful and easy to get in touch with when we had questions.

The location was great, especially the backyard view you see from the stairs. It’s also really close to the beach — perfect spot for summer days.

The room had a strange smell when we arrived, no room spray to try and diffuse it. The kitchen itself was nice, but the utensils and pots weren’t clean. The dining area rug was very dirty, and the large sofa had noticeable stains — overall, not well maintained. Outside, there was a paint and blue plastic we thought there were braai things there didn't make sense why the things were there, making it feel like someone’s personal space just being rented out without much effort. It really lacked the warmth and care you’d expect from a proper vacation rental.
