Rauðafell Scenic View Apartment

Fantastic place to stay out of the crowds on the south coast. While Höfn and Vik can be overrun, Hvolsvöllur is just out of the way enough to be pleasant. The cats and dogs are friendly and the apartment is very comfortable and quiet. We’d definitely stay here again! The local advice from the owners was very helpful.

The apartment is in a nice rural location, close to several attractions. The room is warm and well appointed with a large bathroom. Cooking facilities are more than adequate.

It's a single room with attached bathroom, not attached bedroom. Internet is a bit intermittent and not reliable.

This was one of our favorite places to stay as we travelled between Stykkisholmur and Vik. Having our own bathroom and kitchen was absolutely worth the price. Check in was easy, beds were comfortable, shower was hot, kitchen was very easy to use, and the whole room felt inviting and comfortable (it was rainy during our stay). We learned that paying a little more for a room with a kitchen and purchasing groceries is less expensive and healthier than going out for every meal. The host was always responsive and there was a nice farm dog who said hello and supervised us as we checked out.

The gravel road to get here can be a little rough in a small rental car, but it's okay so long as you go slowly. Some of the bulbs in the bedside lamps didn't work.
