Charming 3Bed Home in High Barnet

Booked for myself and two work colleagues to stay as was cheaper than us all getting hotels separately for the week. There is a drive so if you only have one car you don't need to worry about organising parking. House is a good size and the area is quiet so we all slept well. Keys are in a key box on the side of the house so easy check in.

The road is a permit road (signs are at the entrance not along the street) - I asked to have a permit arranged as we had 2 cars and apologised to Margery (house contact). She said the website wasn't working and that she would try the next day, then never got back to us. Meant parking on a street a 7 min walk away, but that is partly my fault. Upon arrival we noticed both smoke alarms were beeping signalling low batteries which was worrying and annoying. The house is also single pane glass so is very cold! We had to hunt out the boiler as the temperature had been turned way down for both the heating and the hot water so we could make them useable. The one thing that disappointed us the most was the hob was not working and actually unsafe. It wouldn't turn on and we noticed it was off at the fuse board, when we switched it on at the fuse board it kept sparking and made the rest of the power trip out. We really wanted to cook at home to keep the cost low for the week, so not only did we waste money on a food shop, we then spent more money that week getting takeaways. I let Margery know and she claimed she was unaware of the problem and that it was a new hob, please see the photo, it is not a new hob... Overall the house was pretty clean, but I found a load of rubbish from a previous guest in my bedside drawer, and the plug next to my bed was coming away from the wall. I wouldn't want to have a child using it for safety reasons. Overall some places for improvement to make it a fully functioning safe house.

The location.

The kitchen was adequate. The towels were clean.

The apartment was very dirty, and quite run down.

Host was very welcoming and helpful during our stay.
