"A charming traditional hostelry that is ideally located for touring the Ards peninsula."

8.0

The Old Inn is an historic hostelry located in a small village close to the north coast of County Down. There is an easily accessible adjacent coastal walk that runs along the south side of Belfast Lough with views of the estuary and further south to the Mourne mountains. The staff at reception, looking after the bedrooms, in the dining room and in the bar are all unfailingly warm, courteous and helpful. The menus for breakfast and dinner are varied and draw on local produce and tradition - try the whiskey flavoured porridge at breakfast.

"Lovely visit"

8.0

Overnight stay for myself and my fiance with a visit to the spa. Overall we had a lovely trip, the hotel itself is beautiful. Car parking is free and accessed to the side of the hotel with barrier entry/exits. When you enter the hotel you are met by very friendly and welcoming receptionists. The lobby is beautiful and stays true to the history of the hotel with low ceilings, open fires and wood panelled walls. We stayed in the Buttercup room which is one of the petite rooms. It’s beautifully decorated, but certainly petite in size! Perhaps more suited as a single room but we made it work. There was a Nespresso coffee machine, ice bucket, complimentary soft drinks and a GHD hairdryer which were great touches, plus a nice welcome note from the hotel. The en-suite was spotless with plenty of towels, toiletries which smell divine and a decently powerful shower. There were robes and flip flops in the bedroom with plenty of room for those more curvy body sizes! My only negatives were when I opened the wardrobe, the handle came off in my hand! The bed was also very uncomfortable, the whole frame rocks when you sit on the bed, it’s very squeaky and you can feel the springs. Also the walls are very thin, we could hear next door snoring quite clearly when we tried to sleep! We had dinner and breakfast in the gorgeous restaurant area, huge compliments to the chef, the food is to die for. We both had the chicken and leek pie with sides, for breakfast I had porridge with whiskey and rosehip, my fiance had poached eggs, baked ham on sourdough bread. We will definitely be returning for dinner at some point! Cocktails are pricy at £15 each but delicious. The Treetop spa is a little oasis, clean, relaxing and such a treat. We went on a Monday and it was still fairly busy, I can’t imagine going on a weekend when it’s even busier as we found it tricky to get a turn in the hot tub or the heated beds - people tend to overstay, despite the time limits stated. The pool was lovely and warm, it’s super handy having QR codes around to order drinks. I loved the salt wall in the sauna and the lemongrass scent in the steam room. Overall 4 stars, some little niggles but I would stay again without hesitation - next time in a bigger room!

"A hidden jewel in Northern Ireland."

10.0

We spent a lovely night in the Avis Room. The room was beautiful and had everything we could need. We enjoyed using the spa. It is a smaller spa than the other Galgorm hotels but it is a lovely setting and we never felt that it was too busy. The staff were excellent, from reception staff to bar & restaurants we were treated very well by everyone. It felt like a very personal service and really made our visit feel special!

"Katie was amazing!!"

10.0

Katie the therapist was amazing !!!!! I recently stayed overnight at The Old Inn in Crawfordsburn for my anniversary, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. There was a small issue with my massage booking due to an overbooking which was caught a week before we arrived so was not a big deal at all, but the staff handled it incredibly well and we just changed the appointment to next day. They were genuinely apologetic and went above and beyond to make things right. They upgraded our room and added complimentary’s when we arrived , which was such thoughtful gestures and really helped us relax and enjoy our stay even more. The next day I was able to have my deep tissue massage, and I have to give a special mention to Katie — she was absolutely fantastic. Katie did an amazing job and is truly perfect for her role. The massage was incredibly relaxing and exactly what I needed. If anyone is feeling stressed or looking to treat themselves, a massage with Katie is worth every penny. If you were having a bad day she’s the type of person to completely flip it around within a few minutes of talking to her Overall, the customer service was outstanding, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff clearly care about making sure guests have a great experience. Even when something didn’t go exactly to plan, they handled it perfectly and turned it into an even better stay for us. Thank you to the whole team at The Old Inn for helping make our anniversary so special
