The Hideaway Shepherd’s Hut, Alston, Cumbria

We stay for our anniversary and it was really lovely.. Exactly what we wanted.. Super quiet

I didn't dislike anything other than could of been a better mattress.. But that's just my back and I'm only 1 person

Spotless, easy to find, on route for the C2C which we were doing

The electric heating only worked for a short time so it got cold, particularly in the morning. It would have been good to have a few logs for the fire as we were cycling so couldn’t carry some them from the shop. Also maybe some complementary shampoo for the shower. But overall it is a lovely place

The hut was very nice inside

The outdoor space and chairs were very run down. BBQ basis with broken handle The area outside the hut was covered in weeds and grassy area very overgrown so couldn’t sit out on the grass Could do with some tlc and maybe privacy fencing as the neighbour was out working on his garden cutting wood most the afternoon Also a fan or air con unit for summer months

Just a lovely, quiet, peaceful place. Unbelievably dark on a night (we were hoping for a bit of stargazing but as it happens, we were treated to an amazing lightning show). We’ll definitely be going back around Autumn time. Great host that keeps in touch to make sure everything is ok.

Couldn’t fault it.

Location was awesome, property was clean and quirky.

I wish I had known when booking that the outdoor bath was a plunge pool.
