Berkeley Hidden Gem 1BR Full Kitchen w Patio

This property was very clean and accommodating. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need, the bed was very comfortable, and the family was extremely kind. Our truck broke down due to the cold causing the diesel to gel and the family graciously allowed us to push the truck in their own personal garage to warm it up and get it started again. We were extremely grateful. There was also a washer and dryer which came in handy. We brought our dog and there was grass area in the backyard for him to use. The location is only 10 minutes away from the downtown area and there is a private parking spot in the back alley with a back entrance to the property which was great.

The property is close to the hosts home but it didn’t bother us by any means.

It was clean for the most part.

This is a garage renovated into a 1 bedroom Flat. That detail is not mentioned in the booking so we were surprised to see a home 8 feet away from the "Hidden Gem". Upon arrival the assumed owner of the home had little idea of who we were. It's as if we stepped on the property of someone who was surprised to see us. We were told that they did not manage the property and that it was handled by a third party. However, said third party had no communication with us the whole stay. I had to personally reach out to them because the patio comforter outside was not available for use since there were no cushions that would allow us to sit. The property management was completely disorganized with no communication. The pin given to access the booking was INVALID. We had to ask one of the assumed owners for help to get in the door. They were super standoff-ish. It was clear that they felt helping us was someone else's job even though they live in the property adjacent to the booking. We were told by the wife that if we needed anything she would be in the "BIG house". As African American visitors we were extremely offended by this comment. Knowing the history in this country, when African American slaves were sent to live in the "Out House" with White slave owners living in the "BIG House" as it was referred to. We would leave the garage flat and come back to find the lights had been shut off when we kept them on. This made our stay extremely uncomfortable, knowing our privacy and ethnic background were not being respected. I would never stay here if you are a person of color or seeking any decent type of hospitality on your stay.

This is an awesome location close to the arts district and a ton of bar’s & restaurants. It’s private and comfy and feels like a mini apartment. It’s very modern and has an upgraded kitchen area and the bed is so comfortable. Everything inside is well thought out and we appreciated all the extra items like seasonings and extra sponges and towels. 10/10 would recommend(:

The shower head is full of soap scum A little bit of baking soda & apple cider vinegar will def take it all off

The Berkeley apartment was truly exceptional! It was clean, spacious, well-designed, and exceeded all expectations! The bed was also super comfortable, which is a huge plus! I loved how close it was to everything I wanted to do. It was a very safe and nice neighborhood as well. Parking on site was also really appreciated! I’d definitely stay here again, and hope to in the future! :)
