The House at the Beach

Great location and lovely house

The fabulous views out of the windows, especially the sitting room - a different sunset every evening made this our favourite spot to sit. The layout of the rooms, the number of bathrooms, the quirkiness of the whole place - it seemed to us that this was a family home - so well stocked, especially in the kitchen, we didn’t want for anything. We loved the high street and range of restaurants - can recommend The Puffin Restaurant - fabulous oysters and their ricotta tortellini was sublime. Tantallon & Dirleton Castles were definitely worth a visit. The Drift Cafe overlooking Bass Rock does fantastic food - we had breakfast there on our way to Tantallon - but book a table, it gets very busy! As a group of six women, we had the best time, and would definitely recommend. Thank you, Janet, for keeping us updated and for all your help, too.

Just a small thing as so close to the beach, but no outside space. Not a biggie, though.

Outstanding location with great views. Minutes from harbour, shops, restaurants, public transport. Next to two beautiful beaches. Lovely house with lots of character. Great communication from the owner who was very helpful.

There's a £300 damage deposit fee payable by credit card 1 week before arrival and repayable approx 1 week after departure. This wasn't mentioned on the Booking.com site and didn't become clear until after booking . This is taken by the booking agent.

It is a lovely house in a great location, just on the beach. There was everything you needed in the house and in good condition. The owner is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a really nice stay.

When I booked I knew there was an additional charge for pets but I wasn't expecting it to be £100 (three nights stay). Booking.com need to state the cost for pets in all their adverts, rather than 'a charge may apply'.

The location was spectacular. It was also a beautiful house, with great facilities. The owner was extremely helpful.

The WiFi didn’t work too well but that wasn’t the end of the world.
