Lage - Natur pur! Nur leider dadurch auch immer in den Wolken und Regen während in Funchal die Sonne schien

Von Anfang an die Info bekommen, dass die Klimaanlage auch bis 30 Grad heizen kann. Denn der kleine Heizstrahler war nicht ausreichend und wir haben die ersten 5 Tage sehr gefroren.

Die gesamte Abwicklung durch den Manager Dioclécio war hervorragend. Im Vorfeld wurde die Anfahrt bestens beschrieben und auch die Ankunft war überaus herzlich. Die Hütte verfügt über alles, was man benötigt. In der nahegelegenen Snackbar kann man nach den Wanderungen gemütliche Abende verbringen. Ein wunderbarer Ort um abzuschalten, zu wandern und Ruhe zu haben.

Eine gemütliche Bank vor der Hütte wäre perfekt.

If you are looking for peace and quiet and want to escape the crowds, this is the place for you. From the hut you can hike directly towards Pico do Areeiro.

De locatie ligt op een prachtig afgelegen plek. Ondanks dat de huisjes simplistisch zijn, ontbreekt er niks aan hygiëne en voorzieningen. We werden warm ontvangen door de host.

Niet zozeer een minpunt, maar de huisjes zijn niet voorzien van wifi. Dit was ergens ook erg fijn.

The Mountain Eco Shelter is such a charming place that you'd be wrong not to sleep here during your stay in Madeira. You feel perfectly safe and surrounded by nature. The shelter is very comfortable (the kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is perfect and beautiful, the bed is very comfortable), the terrace offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley of Funchal with the sea, we really enjoyed eating outside with this view. The shelters are located in the Funchal Ecological Park, which gives them a special flavor: you feel right at home in nature, and there are hiking trails from the park. Unfortunately, we stayed during the August 2024 fires and were therefore unable to do some of the hikes, but this didn't spoil our stay and the host was very reassuring and informative about the fire. Many thanks to the team for this.

We think a window in the attic could have been useful for ventilation and we were a little sad to have to close the curtains to avoid the heat during the day (but that is exceptional because we stayed during a heat wave). A few deckchairs on the patio could have been nice for relaxing or reading a book in the sun. Similarly, it would be preferable to have several garbage cans instead of just one.

- The shelter was nicely decorated, loved the kitchen! - Very clean and the park is very well maintained. - Our host was super helpful and friendly. - The location of the park is amazing, you can really get some rest and chill out. - Bed is very comfortable. - Cozy restaurant at walking distance. Overall a perfect experience, would love to come back!

Small points of feedback: - Some comfy chairs on the deck of the shelter for reading a book would have been great. - A window in the attic would help with ventilation. - Multiple smaller trashcans (2 or 3) instead of 1 big trash can for trash separation. - A bug screen for the kitchen window.
