Marchese 25 Apartments

The apartments are in a perfect location and overall look quite nice. Check-in was easy, and the price we paid was noticeably lower than similar places in the same area. The apartments have great potential and could be much better with a some small improvements. Great value for the location, but expect some comfort and maintenance issues.

We booked two units: a “Superior Apartment” and a “Deluxe Double Room” which in reality were almost identical. There were a few downsides. The “Superior Apartment” had a very small water heater, some moisture marks in the bathroom, and an electricity limiter (common in Italy) that seemed set very low. Running two air conditioners, the water heater, lights, and another device was enough to trip the power, so we can’t imagine using the oven or washing machine at the same time. Also, the listing mentioned a balcony, but there wasn’t one. In the “Deluxe Double Room” there were sizable moisture marks in the bedroom under the window. Both apartments had very thin walls and ceilings, so noise from neighbours could be quite noticeable. It would also be nice to have a dishwasher and larger TVs with smart features for YouTube and Netflix. We also ended up paying a higher tourist tax than expected - not a huge issue, but worth mentioning. The booking showed €32 for 4 people for 7 nights, but we paid €56. From what we found online, Bari’s tourist tax is capped at 4 nights per person. It’s unclear whether the booking estimate or the host’s calculation was incorrect.

The location was great close to the old towm and Bari Centrale.

We were two families — my wife and I, and our friends with their 5-year-old child. The communication with the host was terrible. Right after the reservation, we asked if we could leave our luggage earlier, but instead of a proper answer we received information about what to do in Bari. Five days before our trip, the woman from the other family got varicella. This was a horrible situation, but we informed the host immediately and in advance. We received no reply. The next day I sent a message via WhatsApp hoping for a response, but again there was no answer. I contacted Booking.com for support, but the case was closed because the host did not respond. At that point I started to worry whether the listing was real. Two days before our journey, we finally received a message from the host saying that since the reservation was non-refundable, he could not cancel one of the rooms. When we arrived, we noticed a very bad smell in the bedroom. The reason was mold under the window. It was everywhere and this is really dangerous for health, especially for a person with respiratory issues like me. At the same time, the air conditioning was not able to heat the room, and we were in a very difficult situation. We then decided to move to the other apartment, which was slightly better — at least the mold was only in the bathroom, not everywhere, and the air conditioner worked properly.

Ελεεινό! Ήταν το χειρότερο μέρος που έμεινα στην ζωή μου! Βρώμικο!! Χωρίς μπατζουρια, ξυπνούσα από τις 6. Οι τοίχοι χάρτινοι άκουγα τα πάντα από τους γύρω μου. Και τώρα το χειρότερο! Πολλές φορές μέσα στην μέρα, μύριζε βόθρος! Άνοιγα τα παράθυρα για να μην λιποθυμίσω και παγωνα! Δούλευε μόνο το ένα από τα δύο air-condition!! Συμπέρασμα: το βράδυ που βρωμουσε πάντα, έπρεπε να επιλέξω μεταξύ ανοιχτών παραθύρων, κρύου και φασαρίας από τον δρόμο ή κλειστού παραθύρου και δυσωδίας! Το κορυφαίο: απευθύνθηκα αρχικά στο τηλέφωνο που είχαν δώσει στην booking, έστειλα μνμ και μου απάντησαν ότι είναι το καλύτερο διαμέρισμα που έχουν! Φανταστείτε τα υπόλοιπα!!! Τους είπα ότι δεν μπορώ να ζήσω έτσι 13 μέρες που είχα κλείσει το δωμάτιο και ότι θέλω να φύγω! Από τότε μπλόκαραν το τηλέφωνο μου και δεν μπορούσα να επικοινωνήσω μαζί τους!!! Απευθύνθηκα στην booking αλλά ούτε από εκεί μου απάντησαν ποτέ!! Στην συνέχεια ανακάλυψα ότι στην booking είχε κάνει κάποιος τα ίδια σχόλια πριν αρκετό καιρό! Αυτό σημαίνει ότι η booking γνωρίζει, αλλά... κάνει τα στραβά μάτια; Υποτίθεται κύριοι της Booking ότι κλείνουμε δωμάτια μέσω της εφαρμογή σας για να έχουμε κάποια προστασία ειδάλλως θα απευθυνόμασταν μόνοι μας στο κατάλυμα!!!
