Owl's Watch

What can we say about Owl's Watch?! .... it is in an idyllic setting, nestled down a lane in a field, with absolute peace and quiet guaranteed. The Welsh hillsides and mountains loom in the distance; the birds sing in the trees, the air is clean and the Watch is an ideal place to kick back and relax. The hosts, Ffi and Steve, are warm, welcoming and friendly and always take the time to stop and chat, to check that everything is ok, without being intrusive. They care that you're having a good time and that you have everything you need. The house is extremely well equipped and has everything two people could need. It's really clean and well decorated throughout and the little finishing touches are gorgeous. We didn't need to use the log burner but had we done so, I think it would have made the place even more idyllic! Facilities wise: Bathroom - well decorated and equipped; toilet, sink, lit mirror, good sized instant shower, and bath. Soft fluffy towels provided. Kitchen - plates, bowls, ample cutlery, small fridge and freezer, slimline dishwasher, cups, galsses of various sizes, washign up bowl, draining rack, toaster, small pots of tea & coffee, couple of pats of butter and Welsh cakes!!! Living room - a sofa for watching TV and an armchair, a round table and two chairs for eating your dinner at, side tables and lamps, a reclining sofa and lamp by the log burner, for reading, occasional tabe, log baskt and logs for the burner, lamp near the entrance door, wall hung Android smart TV, wifi router. Upstairs: a good sized double bedroom with wall hung TV, small table with stool, powerful floor fan, electric wall heater (if needed), small wardrobe with portable fans, bedside tables and lamps, large double bed which was THE most comfortabe bed we have EVER slept on!!!! It was bliss.

It's hard to find anything we didn't like ... possibly the only small down side was that we found the internet connection could be, at times, a little flaky. Not a huge problem, and it didn't seem to be a problem for normal wifi use, but sometimes in the evening, when streaming TV, there was a fair bit of buffering, or the connection would drop and then we couldn't get anything for a short time. However, we DIDN'T book our time away to just go and sit and watch TV so this was a very, VERY minor issue for us.

Great location for exploring the area, with a good selection of shops and takeaways close by, although very much a rural location. The facilities were perfect for our needs. We were walking Offas Dyke and this was a great location for this, and a lovely warm place to return to after a day walking the hills. There is enough room to park 2 cars within the gated wooden fenced off section that belongs to this specific property and there were lots of places to sit out if the weather allowed. Fully equipped kitchen, and although the bathroom + shower were downstairs, this did not cause us too many issues as the whole cottage was quite private. Would not hesitate in recommending to others wishing to explore the area.

Nothing at all. Owners left us to our own privacy and just checked in us once to ensure that everything was ok, felt trusted to just get on with our holiday, so thankyou for this.

It is a superb location with off road private parking. Good facilities and excellent host.

Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you need for a great stay. Beautiful ruthin is just a short stroll for many bars and restaurants. Pet friendly too.
