The carpet was very dirty on living room and the toilet flashing water was not working properly

All doors were self-closing, there was no window or fan in the bathroom, so naturally there was quite a lot of black mould on the bathroom ceiling. There was also a thick smell of bleach, so the property manager must have been aware of the mould issue, but didn't manage to fix the problem. Both bedroom windows wouldn't shut properly which we found out when we saw our 2 year old leaning out of one of those. Obviously we couldn't leave her unattended in either of those rooms. The pull out bed frame was broken and therefore the bed was really uncomfortable. When we were packing our stuff on the last day, we found a condom and lighter underneath the bed. Clearly the rooms hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. Luckily we only stayed for 2 nights or we would have had to find an alternative accommodation. I complained to the management company after we checked out but they only thanked me for my feedback and said it was to late to do anything about this. I then asked for an apology and compensation, which is when they apologised but declined compensation. Again, I should have complained sooner, which I generally agree with. However, the health and safety issues that I was most concerned about (windows and mould) were clearly known to the company and we only found the condom and lighter before checking out. I also explained to them that we checked-in Friday evening just before our kids bedtime and had a very busy weekend as one of our relatives had sadly passed away and we were helping with clearing the flat. We also had a 70th birthday to attend and our daughters 3rd birthday, so contacting the management company wasn't our top priority at the time.
